New To SIM. Need Joystick Reccomdendations
-
Hello. I am new to the sim and most flight sims, and I am just going insane wanting to play this sim!!!
Im on a tight budget so I cant buy all the best fancy equipment. Can someone reccomend a cheap joystick with a throttle that will make the game playable?
I just want something cheap and basic that will make the game playable and enjoyable. I’ve tried to use a playstation controller but I can’t seem to figure out how to configure it properly.
Thanks in advance guys and I am very happy to be a part of the community!!!

This sim really requires a HOTAS stick if you can get one. There are plenty of bargains to be had on ebay for things like Saitek X-45 or 52 (Pro) sticks. Anything lower is going to have you using the myriad of keyboard combinations this sim has.
If you have any cash left over (sorry but I don’t know your budget) then the next thing is TrackIR or an equivalent.

What he said!
But also:
I’ve run with the X-52 (non-pro) for probably six years without any problems. It wasn’t until I got serious about learning how all the modes and systems worked in the last two years that I’ve found it deficient. But for just AA (Like dogfighting friends) or just AG (read: Single Player) the non-pro will do just fine. -
Thanks for the reply guys. I just wanna find the min HOTAS that I can use that doesn’t require me to use 100 Keyboard Commands. I’m ok with some KB commands but not wayyyy too many that will overwhelm me while I am flying.
I don’t just want to dogfight, I want to be able to play the campaigns, use the bombing systems etc…
I found a cheap Thrustmaster T-Flight Hotas X Joystick online but I am not sure how well this will work with the SIM.
Thanks for the help guys, do you guys have any other options that may fit my desires? Thanks!

An old favourite is the Logitech " Extreme 3D Pro " I still keep a new one in the cupboard for emergencies.
$30, depends where you are, then if you keep flying go for some thing better later.
Cheers

Then you need a HOTAS with programmable switches and buttons: the more the better. Then you don’t have to memorize all those keyboard commands, but just the push right buttons. And your muscle memory will take care of them after a while.

What Snail said. I use a TM Warthog, TM MFDs, and a Logitech G13 as a substitute ICP and the only time I have to use the keyboard is during ramp start. The only time I have to use the mouse is for adjusting the HSI for steering select auto pilot mode and adjusting the IMSC/fuel quantity select panels.

Use a F-16 stick when flying a F-16 sim….
