Hey you erased part of the sentence LOL
My remark was in a general way : if you dont listen to teh community and not answer to questions raised by the community to help you out then you dont belong to the community

I took the Green pill… Was it the correct one?
That depends, do you receive replies when you request something at Osan tower?

Advice taken on board. From PM’s and from this thread.
However. Any errors that I do report I see if I can create that error myself prior to posting it so as not to waste programming time. As a programmer myself I know how much time can be wasted and the frustration level some people feel sometimes causes them to miss out that one vital step, hence the step by step instructions. I deal with fixing software on a daily basis and many years back dealt with Falcon too. Now I have my own business to run, as I mentioned I dont have the full amount of time to devote to this. Much as I would like to be committed to it again I just dont have spare time.
The errors I have replied to are the ones that I personally on my own machines managed to create in one OS or another. So as for Bravo Sierra, be sure of the facts first.
As I said in most replies this is purely advice, it is up to the user to take or leave it. I dont and have no intention of forcing things onto people. That is what the forum is for and as I mentioned in other posts too, opinions are like fingerprints, everyone has them and they are all different.
Thanks to Red Dog for the PM’s, at least someone had the decency to reply privately rather than the flaming. I cant possibly know the falcon code as it stands right now as I do not have a copy of the up to date code. Wouldnt mind a copy to glance over in my spare time though.
So to all. The advice I give is just that, advice, nothing more nothing less. If it fixes your problem that is because I have worked at the solution outside of Falcon Code in Windows, Linux and MAC, the last two on emulators currently available online. I knew months back when Freefalcon went open source and Lead pursuit gave up on progressing further that this is currently the only Falcon version still in the modification page of its development. The original code back in Falcon 4 was a monster back then, but it got loose and boy were changes made to it.
Went from a in your face cockpit with views and a dynamic campaign to what it has evolved into now. So yes RD I have done my homework, probably a lot longer than you as well, but thats another story. The manual you wrote on callbacks has aided me a lot, thank you. Now this is called a compliment. I know most programmers myself included dont get much or many and most are given tongue in cheek, but that manual is a godsend to 3rd party coders and a new update on the release of version 4.33 and subsequent major releases would be great.
As for spam, I didnt realise I wasnt allowed to post more than 1 or 2 helpful hints per day, for that I apologize. Must have missed it in the forum rules. Yep read those too. Homework done on that prior to signing up. It took me a few weeks of flying BMS prior to signing up to this forum knowing this would be the outcome. But I did it anyhow.
For those who doubt my credentials, you are free to visit my website to check it out if you wish http://www.pcdatalincs.co.uk, talk to me in person if you wish my contact details are on there too. This is no advert or special offer, however if any falcon pilots do have issues with equipment that I can help them with, advice is free. As for anything else well we all have to make a living.
I know that Falcon BMS is in fact now a mixture of SP4, Freefalcon, Lead Pursuits Allied Force and Open Falcon as its back bone. I know some of the coders from each have more than likely joined the crew. But one thing I have learned over the years is that a little knowledge is a dangerous thing where programming is concerned and unless you know the full picture, which I am not privvy too as far as falcon is concerned, then my advice comes mainly from the outside of the game in Windows itself.
As for errors found that i can recreate on my “HACKED UP INSTALLATION” I believe it has been referred too, then everyone elses installation must be hacked up too as I only use a vanilla install with no third party add ins, cockpit changes or anything else. May have been an idea for me to point that out in my signiature or indeed for a critic to even think about asking before they start criticising.
Ill help out with falcon errors were possible. As for TRACK IR, dont have it so dont comment on it, I dont possess a COUGAR and I cant say I want one really. All I want to do in falcon is fly. I dont mind helping folk out if they have issues that windows is causing with the sim, its ever likely too, theres still a few bugs in the system, but from when I was helping out Open Falcon it spent more time CTD than it did working right. I still look at the forums and know windows solutions to a lot of the errors in it. But I think I will leave the fixing to those that have them now and let them find out how to fix it as my help is apparently Bravo Sierra.
I will be reporting any bugs i find that are repeatable along with a possible fix to RED DOG to pass on to whoever is dealing with that part of the code. It is a far better way of doing it or I will use the error reporting facility.
So thanks all for your kind criticism and if you have time to do something other than that maybe youll have time to actually help out those people in need instead of giving someone whose trying to help a hard time. Some of the problems I answered took me hours of time, my free time to make happen and then fix. Unlike a lot of you I have access to 6 computers all with different OS on them and falcon on every one of them. each has a return to standard after reboot utility on it to revert any changes made after the error has been traced. Those I use in my job each day so I have a complete picture of where Windows was, is now and where its going. As for homework RD that will never finish, I havent had a day yet where I havent learned something new.
If you want my help it will only be through reporting the errors through proper channels. My involvement with the forum is done. I think issued a warning, if thats what has to be issued for trying to help then please issue more. Im 52 now and been programming since I was 14 years old at school when I had to make computers from parts out of the RS catalogue and my keyboard had 20 keys on it to code in HEX. Solder the things together on boards I had made and the programs went into EPROM chips, you had to write it all out, path it out on paper because once the code was in if it had a bug it used to take hours under a UV light to erase it from the chip and as many hours to enter it again.
So here is the decision time. Ill leave it in your hands. Only one error to report tonight

Lol kind of you to visit my web site. I must put a visitors book on there. Be nice to see whose who. Hope you like that background, it took a while to program up for a gif.

Personally a Take 4 white pills, two yeloow, 2 green and one orange one a day. All part of diabetes unfortunately and old age. Love that green pit joke that made me smile.

Your life story doesn’t change normal troubleshooting process. It’s not a personal attack on your intelligence but always an issue is assumed to be user error first because 99% of the time it is. If BMS team assumed every time someone has problem with .key file or DTC or radio channel that BMS code was at fault it would be crazy and foolish.
When someone has a problem the first step is to ensure correct procedure. Then can you repeat the problem. Then can someone else repeat the problem. If it works differently in different situations, why? What’s the same? What’s different? It’s very scientific and untrusting of any body based on authority, majority, intelligence, or experience. If DeeJay says Mk-84 falls up on his PC I don’t trust his word only. He is a smart guy with lots of experience but the truth doesn’t care about how popular you are. I would ask the same questions. What did you do? Can you do it again? Will I see the same issue on my machine? Etc.
I look at your bug reports and requests and it looks fine. Just be patient and participate in the back-and-forth question and answer so people can rule out certain things and get up to speed on the situation to help you. Don’t start with conclusion “this is broken” because how can a person have a discussion after a conclusion? Try “this might be broken, this is my data.” It is more humble and encourages others to investigate and decide for themselves. A conclusion reached from shared data is much better than a dictated conclusion yelled from someone else.

As for programmer snot wanting to be identified, quite write ( in joke ) programmers dont have time to talk to real mortals.
However through all the flaming and abuse I stand and applaud the efforts of all programmers of falcon that have hacked and scraped at what was a crap sim to start with and made it into something to rival the pay a fortune for sims out there.
Yes Falcon is a community and yes it did start a damn long time ago. So long ago half of you werent even out of school. The road to the future is there not from what you see but from where you came from. At times it is best to stop and rest and look back through where you came from just in case in your haste to get this new thing coded youve missed out something so blatantly obvious and never gave it a passing thought.
Heres a repeatable example.
Start falcon, go to controllers, in setup, press NUM PAD 6 or SHIFT NUM PAD 6, looks right doesnt it. Now turn off NUM LOCK so the lights out. Now Press NUM PAD 6 oops didn’t quite notice that one, HOTAS DMS RIGHT. Your apology is accepted. Took a while but it got found and now my HOTAS works fine and dandy with the keypress.key file copied and renamed. Along with 32 directx inputs with no need for a shift layer.Wheres that in the manual? Oh well for those that didnt know if NUM LOCK is active the keypad chuicks out different codes back to the computer. Those with FN press first to get access to it may have some issues. This is advice, take it or leave it the choice is yours as in all my posts.
Right which of you programmers wants error reports. Email me, Im done with the forum, the COMMUNITY can carry on patting itself on the back, fraid I dont need warnings. If you want help somenes going to have to email me. you can visit my site as a lot already have. gotta love the green pit joke, awesome. So Dee Jay or RD choice is yours, helps here if you want it or if you wish to listen to the sheep of the community, than by all means do so. I think Falcon BMS is the dogs &****& marvellous progress. Im offering help if you want it. If you dont then carry on. Make it as elite as you like instead of as generic as you like like lead pursuit did. Elite is fine for those that have ELITE equipment. what about the guys with a simple joystick who load the game up, look in setup and get faced with HOTAS listings.
Whine and moan all you want, but the more generic, the more pilots, the more fliers, the more virtual wings, the more fun. Simple maths.
Is TrackIP vital, not really, ive flown a whole campaign now and not got shot down once using the 2D pit as well. (Pick that man up hes had a heart attack. ) Yes 2D. I use 3D to look at the MFD’s when i cant find my glasses. thats it. I was told its mega realistic, hmm, look closer, I dont recall any pilot carrying binoculars in his flight suit to look closer. But thats the one and only time I use 3D.
Oh and Frugals, OF used to get a load of help from them back in the day so I wouldnt go slagging it off too much. Same with Falcon HQ and all the other forums just like this one, this is where things get fixed. Not every fault is in falcons code and at times people need to be reminded of it.

Yes I got back call me back when your 30 miles out when im flying over the runway. yet on the deck everythings fine. Im going to make a track Osan and post it, see if anyone else has this issue. Itll be fun to find out where it actually is.

Have you reinstalled BMS correctly yet ??
Nobody has this many issues.
https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/showthread.php?13227-Common-BMS-Update-Installation-Questions
Can any one link a good install guide ?
-
Well, if you were flying the 2D pit that brings back the question of whether you installed BMS or not…
Oh, and Im unable to replicate your fault with the numpad there. I press the 6 key on my numpad, it reports ICP-6-TIME. I toggle num lock off, confirm num lock light off. Press num pad 6 again and get ICP-6-TIME once more.
Standing by for this screenshot of flying over Osans 14/32 runway.

Gyro
FYI there is zero line of freefalcon in BMS code
There is no freefalcon coder in the bms team
the first thing to do is to answer the questions that people ask you but instead of simply answering you moan and write 2000 lines nobody even read.
Is that so hard to say
I am at XX miles from OSAN , GPS posit X
My UHF is set up to xxx frequency
Here is my DTC filedo you confirm ?
Or: keystroke issue : i have THIS issue : you will find my .key at this.URL. my language set up is : xxxx my keyboard language is XXX
when you are on a highway and the all the cars drive on the wrong side…YOU are on the wrong side
aditionnaly you seem to like bug chasing…good that can be helpfull but you lack the very base competence on a btester:
-use vanilla install
-answer questions relative to your report
-follow devs instructions when asked
-do proper bug reports as instructed -
….
Oh, and Im unable to replicate your fault with the numpad there. I press the 6 key on my numpad, it reports ICP-6-TIME. I toggle num lock off, confirm num lock light off. Press num pad 6 again and get ICP-6-TIME once more. …Same.

Ok.
Nice intention. But you are NOT helping ppl there. For the moment, you are making us losing OUR time.
A lot of blah blah, but still no answer about the question asked.
…
So … for the third and last time:
What is the frequencies you are using for Comm’s and ILS at OSAN?
https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/showthread.php?20016-Osan-s-tower-controller-needs-retiring
(if do don’t or can’t answer that question, please, keep all you bug reports and advices for you Gyro … we thank you)
-
Please when making posts do not mention errors with BMS falcon as it runs perfectly. All errors are operatror errors.
Please ignore my posts and advice as it is ill informed and all errors reported by me are the fault on my computer alone.
My apologies to Red Dog for complimenting him on the manual he made about callbacks back in 2011 and he is quite correct in saying only 95% of it is correct, that is more than good enough.
Ive already been warned about spamming and trying to help those in need but apparently that is not allowed.
I shall probably be banned for this post, not that it matters, why try to help those that dont want it.
Good luck and best regards for the future and I hope BMS does become the cream of F16 flight sims.
Troll alert…

No need to come back on previous post Monli.
Let’s hope that Gyro understand our point about what is helpful and what is not.
I want to be clear, there is no problem to report troubles or ask question, but try to be efficient otherwise, posting bug report without giving us clues, or a complete process to reproduce it or information allowing us to understand what is happening … => pointless.
If you don’t have time … no prob, just add something like : Stay tuned, I will come back with more details and information as soon as I can.
You should understand this perfectly Gyro since you are programmer and troubleshoot professional.
