Advanced package planning with ECM (tutorial)
-
A continuation of my previous package planning tutorial, in this one I cover a much more advanced operation. If there’s interest in this sort of thing I could make another one, or two!

Do you have any vids on locating and engaging targets with the A-G radar? That is the only part of the Jet I don’t feel skilled enough to employ by my lonesome.

I have an old one I made years ago when BMS first came out. It’s one of my first tutorials. Go to the pinned “tutorials” topic in this forum.

Just some additional info and notes from me.
- In 2D world as I know the SOJ AC does not have any effect only in 3D world. The used radar range reduction equation is in RP5 manual. It seems to me still valid.
- You can judge what did the SEAD flight in 2D world and SAMs if you check the timeline events because all SAM launch in 2D world and flight weapon use are recorded.
- The SOJ in 3D from my aspect is very overd modeled, it is literally disable all SAMs, especially with core modeling values.
- If you create SOJ flight it is recommend to do for longer period because of their low availability and turnaround time. A single AC can cover lots of attacking package.

The prowlers were carrying the full complement of pods - how many are actually required? (Are there different variants working at different frequencies etc.?). Nice vid - thanks.

I do not like give for average players background info because it can ruin the game experience but as I know they can do ECM without ECM pod. The ECM capability is defined in exe of somewhere is the DB. In my MOD I tired to create SOJ AC for red side either but I was not able to do it. For me is not an option creating such DB and campaigns where only blue side can have SOJ AC….

Nice one Krause. Picked up a few pointers. Keep em coming.

1. Not sure what you mean?
3. I agree - in reality they can disable multiple SAMs at once, but they still have to target them, and can’t target an infinite number of radars. Still, it’s nice that it models anything. I am interested to know what the range of the jamming is, it seems to be at least 50 miles, but that’s just from anecdotal evidence.
4. yes. I say this in the video. Only 1 aircraft is needed to do ECM. -
1. Not sure what you mean?
1. As I know the SOJ/ECM AC does not have any effect in 2D world. What you see in UI and outside of your bubble are in 2D world.
3. Because it works only in 3D world the bubble limitation counts. As long as the SOJ AC in bubble works in case is out of your bubble likely does not. You can test in TE. Fly close to a SAM while SOJ AC are edge of your bubble then do the same while is outside. -
Because it works only in 3D world the bubble limitation counts.
Would this then be client-specific or global? Would be a bit odd if pilot A got shot at all the time, while pilot B has a clean scope even though he’s only a few miles closer to and in the bubble of the jamming aircraft.
