Who is ‘they’?
Depends what keyfile you are using. If you’re using a default keyfile (BMS.key or Keystrokes.key) the key maps are in your docs folder here: C:\Falcon BMS 4.32\Docs\Falcon BMS Manuals
If you’re using a custom keyfile …. … don’t know what key is or isn’t used for the cage/uncage command.
Best guess, you’re using BMS.key which (I think) doesn’t have a key assigned to ‘uncage’. You either need to assign one in the UI (BMS–>SETUP–>CONTORLLERS), or change to the keystrokes keyfile also via SETUP–>CONTORLLERS. The default command in keystrokes.key is ‘U’ if I’m not mistaken.

There is some confusion about what keystroke file to use in FBMS, but IIRC the uncage is unmapped and must be mapped to (or whatever key desired).

No, this has never been the case. U has been uncage for as long as. I can remember and I have never had to manually map the key myself, irrelevant of which flavour of F4 I am using.

Direct from default BMS.key:
SimToggleMissileCage -1 0 0XFFFFFFFF 0 0 0 1 “Wpn-Sidewinder-Cage/Uncage”
No Key Assigned.

Well then, you have the Magic Touch Malc, so go fetch me a lottery ticket please.

Sorry. I didn’t realise it was the law I had to use BMS.keys file. I have used keystrokes.keys since dot and have never had problems uncaging 'winders or Mavericks. Please wait here while I go select BMS.keys and screw up everything I’ve had working superbly for years…
Easy Malc, not what I meant. Just pointing out that the BMS.key file, which loads as default in a new install, doesn’t have the ‘U’ key assigned like the legacy Falcon4 and/or Keystrokes files.
(Revised - too late; tied and grumpy)

Nobody said that. What someone said is “this has never been the case. U has been uncage for as long as. I can remember”. I guess you just forgot to remember that BMS.key is the keyfile that loads by default on a new BMS install and it certainly IS the case that ‘U’ is NOT uncage in that keyfile.
Comment retracted, and apology offered.
