Crashes when printing, ending campaign,…
-
Hi,
I installed BMS 4.32 update 1 till 7, did a setup of my throttle/yoke and done some trainings.
Now when i am in campaign and i want to print the briefing or the preset radio channels, my printer starts printing but the game crashes, i get a black screen and it says bms stopped working.
Also when my mission is done, i press esc and E to end mission and then it also chrashes with the same black screen.I have win7 64bit, 16GB Ram, Radeon R9 270 series GPU. Everything is installed in E:/, windows is installed in c:/
Running with 2 monitors, only 1 is used for BMS. -
The problem is most likely a common one with your computer and not with BMS.
Basically using Windows 7 unlike its predecessors, this and windows 8, 8.1 and Windows x when released will requires ALL driver for sound, networking, video, printers, usb pretty much everything installed on your machine has to have drivers signed by Microsoft as safe to use. This according to Microsfts tech department is done as part of the system for virus and malware protection and is installed when the operating system goes in.
There are a number of programs that “Claim” to make this issue go away. However I have yet to find one that lives up to its description. The only way I know of at the moment is items you have trouble with that cause CTD’s or the Blue screen of death are generally because of these unsigned drivers which the OS will not load and contacting your equipments suppliers web site to ask for digitally signed drivers will be the only answer around this issue unless anyone knows of a way to work around the signed driver problem.
So until these companies catch on to whats happening and get informed of it your left with “Doctor it hurts when I do that.” Reply “Well dont do it then” Ive got the same printing issues again down to unsigned drivers from Samsung for my Laser printer. I did have graphics issues too with my card until AMD/ATI sent me the signed copy of the driver file.
Pain in the ass I know but Falcon is a very old game and requires legacy support in some functions. Sometimes a search of the manufacturers web site may turn up an archived set of drivers fom years gone by that may make it all work right, but I would seek advice first prior to thier use. As a rule of thimb Windows 7 is in the Windows 2000 / NT family of Operating systems which were the operating systems it ran on the best when it was new. See if you can find a legacy driver for your printer you may get lucky, failing that go low tech, pen, pencil, notepad, rubber, ruler and compass.

To my knowledge the built in printing of briefings has not worked for some time?
has anyone had any luck with this before?
I just print out the datacard from WDP instead, much more useful and much easier to print…
-
So basically the printing won’t work? Don’t get me wrong, i get a printed version of what i want but the sim bms crashes and i have to restart again…
I will try that WDP. -
So, now i managed to do the first 2 missions and ended them with EXCELLENT after trying them for 10 times without knowing what to do untill i found a youtube video
Seems that BMS was crashing all the time when i click on my secondary screen without pressing alt-tab first so that problem is kinda solved.
Now the printing part:
I installed WDP but when i click on open mission i don’t get the korea mission in the /save map, only 5 files from 2010/2011 are in there so i can’t select my package…
How can i get the current mission loaded in BMS? I read the manual of WDP but i can’t find it anywhere…
I also saved my campaign on another name to see if it would show up in the list but no luck.campaign i am doing: korean theater operation and i selected operation rolling thunder.

I save my datacards in WDP, then retrieve them from datacards directory before printing. This way you print whatever you need. Coordination, airport, nav, etc. You can also control printer page setup easily.

double check that WDP is looking in the right directory. If its a campaign, save it just before you use WDP, and then make sure that WDP is opening the correct directory to find the save (for default install location and KTO, this should be the following):
C:\Falcon BMS 4.32\Data\Campaign\SAVE

I have saved the campaign, but all i can see in the map you say are saved TE missions: BMS5-001 Multinational war.tac (5 different in total), and one te_new.tac
I click file > open mission and then i get that list, so no saved games from my campaign are in there
-
LOL…
In the window that opens up with the list of saved TEs, change the file type you are looking for, from .tac to .cam, or to all filetypes…
-
Use Gyro’s advices with cautions.
Give a try and tell us if it solve something.
For info … I had the same issues on my WindowsXP SP3 using an approved EPSON printer Driver. Just to say.

omg can’t believe i am so stupid hahaha i thought it had to be a .tac file to work, i didn’t even try that
Thanks a lot it’s working now!
