Tacview – Understand what happened during your last flight! (alternative ACMI viewer)

THX!

Just overall awesome thing to have. I bought it recently, and I’m pretty sure I spend at least as much time watching everything I and others did in TacView more than I actually play BMS now
Any plans on getting buildings and such into TacView? Seems a bit of a hassle importing it yourself.
-
@__Arty__: Are you talking about loading a mission in a theater which is not yet supported by Tacview? If this is the case, please let me know which one so I can add it.
Well it’s Ikaros Theater.
-
thank you for this great tool Vyrtuoz: notworthy
to make more efficient some debriefing of training missions , I try to position static objects, but I can not obtain the correct geographic positioning in Tacview. I have a major position shift between the coordinates provided by BMS and those that I have to write in the XML file of Tacview (currently I get a result by successive approximations and very painful iterations).
I feel I miss something obvious, but it’s been 24 hours … A little help would be welcome.for example, what is the process to convert the coordinates of JEWEL (N36 ° 12,619 ‘E127 ° 24,730’) in Tacview.
or, what are the coordinates of the target in Tacview “Kunsan Runway 5” whose details are N35,58.375 E127,24.263 WDP?
:neutral:Edit : While continuing to search I found the explanation of falcon 4.0 projection terrain
But is there a soft wich allow quick conversion from falcon 4.0 to Tacview ?
I Need some help please. :bowd: -
You can use the DTC converter to mark things in falcon and have them converted to tacview
-
A question about that bubble issue: every time units leave Player bubble TACVIEW reports them in the Log as “destroyed”, can that be surpressed?
-
Indeed! This is a very old problem…
During a battle, Tacview is trying to guess when objects are destroyed or not… It is checking if there were enemies and weapons around the point when the object has disappeared. If this is the case, it considers that the object has been destroyed in some ways…
In Tacview 1.4, I’m going to rewrite the event log will do my best to get rid of these false events.

Hi all,
Getting a stuttered Tacview recently. Most of the time I use fast forward to check things and only small parts are played in the normal speed so I did not pay much attention to this.
But while recoding (video) a longer ACMI tape today I noticed significant stuttering. Turned of StaticObjects by renaming, no change. Saved the BMS ACMI into the vhs TacView uses, no change.
Restarted the system and only had TacView active, no change. My system:
MSI ATI Radeon R7970 3GB DDR5 2xDVI, 4x Mini-DP
Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit UK OEM, Incl. ServicePack 1
Intel Core i5-3570K FC-LGA4, “Ivy Bridge”
Seasonic M12II-650 Bronze 4x PCIe, Zwart
Samsung MZ-7PC128B/WW SATA 600, 830 series, MLC, TRIM
GIGABYTE GA-Z77X-D3H (rev. 1.0) RAID, Gb-LAN, Sound, ATX
Seagate ST2000DM001 SATA 600, Barracuda 7200.14
AHBS00 Seagate 4TB ST4000NM0033 Const ES.3 SA3
Corsair 8 GB DDR3-1600 Kit CML8GX3M2A1600C9, Vengeance LP, XMPThe stutters are recently but can’t point to anything related. Any suggestions?
-
Ice, can you share me the VHS and any static objects files you are using for testing? (also let me know which battlefield this is)
Your system looks fine. All I can say is that ATI OpenGL drivers are not the most stable ones. So this may be related to a bug in Tacview renderer and/or your current ATI graphic drivers. Are you using Tacview 1.2.7 or 1.2.8?
-
Thanks for getting back to me on this Vyrtuoz. Requested details send via PM.
Looking forward to your findings.Doing some checking on available ACMI’s shows stutters only during Falcon Online (currently REDFLAG RP6) missions. TE’s and campaign on both hosted and in a LAN environment do not show the stutters.
Cheers,

Hi Vyrtuoz,
In 1.2.8 the manual slider for setting the a/c trail length isn’t working correctly. It appears it is only making the trails go on and off, on being long trails.
Please fix! Thanks.
Cheers,

You are right.
This bug has been fixed in Tacview 1.3. So you will have to wait for a few weeks to get the fix.

Hi Vyrtuoz!
If it’s not too much trouble for you, could you please include EMF theater to the next version of TacView?

Thank you in advance and Merry Christmas!!!
P.S.: TacView 1.3 … ROCKS!
-
Sure! I’m currently integrating it in the final release of Tacview 1.3.

Nice one Vyrtuoz, auto scale-up is a great addition to TacView. On higher resolution screens with smaller dot pitch it does make the planes a bit too big in my opinion and gets a bit cluttered sometimes. It would be great to have maybe two sizes selectable by the user, so that you can opt for a smaller size somewhere in between the two screenshots you posted if you prefer.
I will definitively tweak this feature in coming releases. I just wanted to publish it quickly so you can enjoy it without waiting
Are you still planning to add some way to adjust the size of the auto-scale up objects? I love the feature but find the objects are too big for my monitor/resolutilon.
-
Yes, this is still planned for 1.3.x. Can you share me some 1:1 scale screenshot of one this problematic view so I can find the best way to solve it?

Thank you Vyrtuoz for the new version!!!
I believe I made the correct modifications in the xml, but I get a very large offset in viewing my flights in EMF.
The above is a VHS file (BMS 4.32.7 + EMF 1.0.0) which you can find HERE
It is a route:
-2-ship Takeoff at LGBL airbase
-Terrain masked flight west to LGPZ and popup attack some targets there
-RTB (Terrain masked flight east to LGBL)My Data-Falcon4Theaters.xml is:
<resources><falcon4theaters><theater id="Korea"><simulators>Falcon 4.BMS</simulators> <path>D:\Falcon BMS 4.32\Data\Terrdata\korea\terrain\</path> <west>123</west> <east>132.26</east> <south>33.79</south> <north>43</north> <lod>2</lod></theater> <theater id="East Mediterranean Front"><simulators>Falcon 4.BMS</simulators> <path>D:\Falcon BMS 4.32\Data\Add-On emf\terrdata\emf\terrain\</path> <west>16.7</west> <east>39.4</east> <south>28.7937183</south> <north>47.228646</north> <lod>2</lod></theater></falcon4theaters></resources>
Can you please look into it?
Thank you in advance!
-
Is it possible to display the flight plan in a future version?
-
Hi Frederf,
you can already do it with DTC-Converter, a great and very simple soft by uri-ba that allows you to convert most of DTC values (like flight plan) in Tacview as a static object.
Let have a look
For sure you will find all you need.Windblow
