Installing BMS….check MD5 always shows a corrupt Direct X June 2010! Please help..
-
Hi Agave,
I tried those 3 non-torrent sites……And the same thing happened!
Norton said that Direct X June 2010 was unsafe and treated it like a virus.
As you know, BMS won’t work without that for some reason…I have Windows 8.1 & this Direct X version BMS is calling for is Direct X 9.
I don’t know what to do.

Yeah, everyone loves Norton….
well, you could try installing DirectX from microsofts site. Other than that, your options are just telling norton to let it install.
-
Turn off or Ignore Norton. Try again. ….
It’s a false positive. There is no virus from the trustworthy mirror sites.
-
So,
Option: 1 Download Direct X June 2010 from Microsoft
Option: 2 These 3 sites are trustworthy mirror sites you say and I should turn off Norton?
From the base plus u1 - u6 thread:
**If you have trouble using the torrent download method, here’s a list of public mirrors (Thanks for offering them! If you want you have YOUR mirror added/removed from this list, please contact me by PM). However, please try to use the torrent 1st whenever possible:e-HAF
weapondeliveryplanner.nl
Loki’s server**Each one of these gave me a “it’s a virus” and Norton auto-eliminated it!
Please advise folks….I just bought my PC and it cost me!
Thank you,
StefosUPDATE:
I’m downloading the Direct X June 2010 Redistributable…If it’s a virus, my PC is done for! LOL
I’ll report back…the “interesting thing” is that none of the 3 sites download update .exe’s but some other kind of files.
-
well, weapondeliveryplanner.nl is a dev site… so if norton reckons there is a virus in that one, then yes its a false positive.
IIRC, norton has the capacity to restore auto deleted threats in such a case. I must confess that I have not used Norton in some years however.
-
Yes. I have used the BMS install files from those exact sites for ~2 years, E-Haf, I think. There is no virus. Search ‘false positive’ on this forum. It’s not uncommon.

Hi sir,
Well, I’m downloading from there……and I’m downloading from Microsoft’s site as well just in case Norton says it’s a virus.
We’ll see…Why are updated .exe’s not showing? Maybe someone hacked that site?
When checking MD 5, which file do I use? The setup.exe?
The update 7 .exe shows just fine and the MD 5 works.

Hi Agave,
I appreciate your help man.
Will the BMS still work if I have the .exe’s from the weapondeliveryplanner.nl site but the DirectX June 2010 from Microsoft?
Thanks,

well, they should download an update .exe which creates update package files.
http://blu3wolf.com/falconbms/Falcon_BMS_4.32_Update_3.exe
like that.
-
Update 7 says this:
Falcon BMS 4.32 Update 7….It’s an application file
We’ll see about Updates 1 thru 6…I saw 2 sets of files which resembled 2 copies of Updates 1-6…In other words, 2 copies of Update 1,2,3,4,5,6…In the same .rar file…
O.K. here I go again! I’ll report back in 2 minutes.
Stefos
Soooo. The developers site link is broken! It says:
“C:\Users\Stefos\Desktop\BMS 1-6\Falcon_BMS_4.32_Setup_plus_U1-U6.zip: The archive is either in unknown format or damaged”What’s going on here mate?
I’ve spent hours on this non-sense! LOL
Stefos

if they were .bsf files, then those are the setup package files that the update .exes create anyway.
thats what the whole collection of extracted update files should look like.
-
Good Lord….Ohhhhh
When I download this sir…which file do I use to ensure that the MD 5 is right please?
Also, Do I double click the 7z.exe to “unify” the base & Update files?
Thank you,
Stefos -
no, the 7z.exe is used by the setup exe.
there is a separate Setup exe which is in the base install, and that exe reads the update files - no ‘unification’ is required.
if you downloaded the setup 1 to 6 plus base, then the MD5 is for the .zip containing it all, before you open it…
EDIT: this might help you.
-
So, when I get all those files, I do the following:
1. Do the MD 5 on the .zip folder to ensure fidelity
2. Run the Setup.exe
3. A new folder is created which doesn’t override my original Falcon 4.0 install
4. Follow Chuck Yeager’s advice in that long video! LOLCorrect?
StefosWhat confusion mate! It’s not clearly delineated on what to do and what to check!
-
Yes, that’s right. (nor sure on point 1 but probably right, yes).
When you run the setup.exe, it will say “checking for updates”. It will give you the impression that it’s checking online, but it’s not. After a while it will show you the updates you have (all of this based on what you have on that “data” folder).
Here’s what mine shows (obviously it says the game is already installed, don’t know why it says only “base” is installed thou):
BMS installs on a different folder than the original Falcon, in fact you can have both versions installed and play both if you like. Then again, you don’t need to install the original at all. The installer asks you the location of the original game (or the CD) to verify the main exe. It should ask you the destination where you want to install too.
-
well, the advice in number 4 should cover 1 to 3 as well…
yes, if you want to check the MD5 hash, then you check it (as per the instructions on the post you downloaded it from) against the .zip file.
-
Great,
One problem now:
The Direct X june redist…BMS is saying that the corrupted DirectX must be “reextracted”
I just downloaded it from Microsoft mate and extracted it in the “data” folder that had the Base & Update files 1 thru 6.!!!
How do I bypass this nonsensical message?
Thank you,
StefosI’ve got to go to sleep…have to be up in 4 hours mate…This has been the worst experience in mod extraction this far.
Regards mate

Norton OP,
GG nerf Norton.
-
What do you mean sir?
Kill Norton?
How do I do that?..…temporarily stop it?
-
just video game nonsense, but yes if you set norton up to give that file an exception you would have been finished hours ago.
I dont know how to do that any more, they keep changing how to do it…. and like I said, Ive had so many problems with norton over time that I just dont use it. I had norton try to tell me that there was a virus on a brand new CD copy of a splinter cell game once.
