BMS Locks Up On Exit
-
New to Falcon 4 BMS, running the latest version with all the updates. I’ve only been poking around in the game so far, but almost every time I exit, my system freezes - hard lock that requires hitting the reset button. My system is as follows…
I7-875K CPU - not overclocked, with Evo 212 Cooler
16 Gb DDR3 1333 Mhz RAM
Dual Intel X25M SSDs in RAID0
1 Gb Seagate Hard Drive
EVGA GTX 750Ti 2 Gb Video Card
Samsung UD590 UHD Monitor
Windows 8.1I’m computer savvy, so this is not an issue with the system itself. Other, far more intense games play fine. Nothing is overheating, and my drives are not cluttered with junk. All drivers, and the OS, are up to date.
I’ve read about the issue with some Nvidia cards where systems lock up after several minutes. That is not what is happening. I’m getting a hard lock when I exit the game. It seems to have something to do with the resolution changing from the resolution at which I am playing the game - I’ve tried several - and the UHD resolution at which I am running windows. When the lock up occurs, I either get a black screen, or the Windows desktop, with everything sized wrong. At this point, the only thing that brings the system back is a hard reset.
I’ve tried running the program as administrator, in Windows 7 and Windows XP compatibility mode. Nothing has helped.
Any ideas, anyone???

Check the event viewer and find out what crashed your system…

In your \Falcon BMS 4.32\User\Config folder delete the dx9display.dsp file. It will regenerate when you launch again, and see if that helps.
Is you in game reso and your desktop reso matched.
Edit: Also might wanna delete the files in your \Falcon BMS 4.32\User\Acmi folder.

Oh deactivate the debriefing save in the configurator that causes crashing on exit.

I know, how many suggestions can there be?
Anyway, I have a similar issue when flying on the current FO server (COOP theater) and the way I solved it was to run the ACMI for about 30 sec’s. Seems to delay the transition from 3D to 2D (ACMI is downloading) and the graphics can catch up. Crash log usually shows some kind of graphics glitch when I forget and crash out.
Also, as Cloud9 said clean out the ACMI folder regularly of these mini records.

I never have to run an ACMI and the crashes have not happened anymore once I disabled the debriefing save. Try it out.
