Antenna pot down
-
Suddenly my antenna pot seized. In the cougar control panel it doesnt move at all while in the calibration page i just see the black bar move just a bit. Like a small spike.
Im thinking of ordering a new one but as i opened up the throttle i just saw a jungle of wires.Im no expert in electronics and wirings. So im asking, how easy will it be to change the pot and re-wire it.
Or does the new pot come ready for plug and play. -
A standard “pot” or potentiometer is basically a variable resistor. There are three leads. The middle lead is the moving arm (wiper) which scrapes across a circular track of a resistive conductor. The other two leads are connected to the two ends of the track. The resistance between the middle and either leg depends on the amount of track between the wiper’s contact point and that end of the track. It’s a very simple circuit device.
Assuming you have the correct replacement part it’s a simple matter of hooking up the leads in the same arrangement as they were. The biggest concern is getting a pot. with the same total resistance and physical interface. The three leads should be labeled, cut off, stripped and soldered on the new pot.'s terminals. A soldering iron and solder wire is necessary and a resistance meter is a handy luxury.

thanks alot.
I’ll see if the guy i bought the stick pots has the antenna pot too. -

… or you can try to fix it yourself, check out the repair instructions for ant-pot. here:

Thanks Lazy, I have it in mind.Being a noob in electronics im trying to avoid doing something on my own.Prefer an easy/straight forward solution

i calibrated my stick the other day.the faulty antenna pot gives me the slightest spike which enables me to calibrate it without an error message due to the faulty pot. However, when i turn on my computer I get the following message
“the data contained in the hardware does not match the calibration file. You cannot access the manual calibration.”
My stick works fine though and im able to calibrate it manually
By the looks of it, it isnt something grave however I would like some feedback from someone who knows those things
Thanks a priori
