Radar cursor stuck in GMT and SP mode

Check that it is not the VRP/VIP enable bug.

[4.32 RC9 Up17] FCR SP/TGT Issue with VIP / VRP activated
More easy for me to explain of to reproduced it:
1
When you are in TGT rotary mode in FCR GM / GM, try to activate the VIP or VRP in the UFC (by highlight the option LIST 9/ 3 - 0).
Then, you can’t switch your FCR in SP. TGT is the only OSB active.2
When you are in SP mode in FCR GM / GM, try to activate the VIP or VRP in the UFC (by highlight the option LIST 9/ 3 - 0).
Then, you can’t switch your FCR in TGT. SP is now the only OSB active. So, when you have activated VIP or VRP in the UFC, you can’t switch between SP / TGT sighting option again.

There is a bug lurking in the GM code around the ground spot getting stuck. It’s been there “forever” and we have no current plan to fix it – it’s quite rare in normal doctrine conformant use (which generally precludes frequent circling and re-attacks over targets – especially without sensor realignment – which is more or less the only way you are likely to trip over this). We know what it would take to fix it – and it ain’t a quickie – so please don’t hold your breath on this one. Not down on anyone, just setting expectations.

maybe that is a bug. i always fix any bug by switching back to NAV mode, then A-G mode.

There are multiple workarounds like that one. This is one of the reasons that, when compared to the degree of difficulty to fix this problem once and for all, there’s no plan to do much about it short term.

I’ve been running into this issue recently. I am targeting a column of vehicles using Mavericks and everything works great during the initial run. I fire off several missiles before I get too close and have to break off. It often happens that the radar cursor becomes fixed to a steerpoint and it is no longer slewable on HSD/FCR. The only thing that can be done is to switch to a VIS mode and acquire targets that way. I’ve also noticed that DMS-down mysteriously stops working at the same time that the radar cursor freezes. Is there really no hope of this getting fixed?

I think CZ:ing (zeroising) the weapon might cure this. Yes, it does happen at times. I am not positive how to work around it, but a combination of CZ and TMS down or switching SOI or resetting FCR lock usually does it.

I was able to get out of the stuck position a couple of times (not exactly sure what did it, tried radar cursor reset, CZ, TMS up/down) although once it occurs, it also goes back to the “bad” state easier the next time around. Devs - perhaps a partial fix could be implemented so that pressing CZ resets the radar to some reasonable initial values?

Hi,
I hope this could be fixed, because I am not able to use any ground mode. The cursor goes to the edge all the time.
It works fine on the HSD anyway.

I’m having a similar issue where I can no longer move the cursor in AG GMT mode, too. Switching to AA and then back to AG master mode usually fixes the problem, but as others have said the AG mode is prone to fall into that state quite often again once it’s happened.
Also, when switching back to AG I need to activate SP mode again and press CZ a couple of times, so often in fact that I’ve mapped those OSB buttons to buttons on my T500 RS racing wheel (not a very realistic setup, but it’s handy to have those functions within reach).
My birthday wishlist includes a couple of Thrustmaster MFD frames, so who knows…
Cheers, Uwe

Do you also have a TGP in use?
I can’t remember well, but I know there are some difficult stories when using radar and TGP (and additionally Mavericks).Let’s say your FCR is pointed. your SOI gets switched to the WPN.
In order to use the TGP you switch the FCR MFD to TGP and make it SOI.
In order to slew the TGP around, you have to fix area in order to look around.
Then you switch SOI to WPN and point on target. In this condition, if you would like to change the target through FCR, do not forget, TMS down to release lock, switch SOI to TGP, TMS down twice to release TGP, switch TGP MFD to FCR, switch SOI to FCR, TMS down.
I’m not 100% sure if my procedure was like that,
but I’m not experienced enough to recognize or vID ground targets by eye, but using the tgp makes me so slow that I can launch only one or two missiles per pass -
I don’t use the TGP with Mavs or JSOWS generally, I wish I could but that’s another story.
I do usually carry weapons of both types during an interdiction (my std. loadout being JSOW-154s [I’
m trying to win my first campaign on “cadet” level, remember] and 4 GBUs), so this may be part o the issue as I need to use both the WPN and TGP screens.Uwe

I had this cursor “stuck” in ground mode issue, when it happens I quickly switch to AA FCR and the cursor moves again.
when I switch back to AG mode the cursor is slewable once again.
