OCA Missions and wingmen targets
-
Not sure if this has been answered as I couldn’t find an answer when searching the forums.
I see that the OCA missions have the Flight commands removed so you are unable to task your flight to other targets on OCA missions. So, how do I assign/task my flight to attack other targets indicated in the mission brief other than the one I assign to waypoint 5, for example?
The only way I can figure is to set the main target to the attack waypoint and have the flight attack that target while I attack secondary targets, seems kinda a waste of firepower if the three wingies all go after the same target.
Thanks!

Flight Commands should be available (assuming you’re #1 in the flight). You should be able to select targets via FCR/TGP and give an ‘Attack my Target’ command. You can only assign two targets this way …. 1 for #2 (your wingman) and one for the 2nd element (#3 and #4). Plus your target, so 3 total targets.

Nope. Never existed in Falcon4 SP, FF nor BMS.

You’re thinking of Falcon Allied Force.
You have much more command flexibility than you are describing. There are other commands besides “flight, attack my target.” At the very least you can direct lead’s wingman and the element separately. Using a waypoint-assigned target and weapons free or attack my targetS you’ll find that 4 aircraft, 4 targets is very possible. You’ll never have complete control over the targets of a 4 ship in such an attack but there are a lot of methods better than “everyone bomb that building.”
Personally I consider the element to be the first strike since I have the least control over their targeting. Passing the IP 15-20nm out I wait for them to call houndog and weapons free them. Some short time later I turn in with wingman at a suitable trail that I have time to designate wingman to a target that I feel element has missed. If that’s not necessary I give wingman a weapons free shortly after dispatching element inbound. And finally I am of course free to engage.
It’s important to understand what AI will do with various weapons in terms of height and how many they will release including what you can or can’t do to change that.

… and what if you let them do what they “want”? … just to see what happens.

I assign element to steerpoint 5, wing steerpoint 11, and i take no 12, all set up in my dtc as target steerpoints before flight.
In flight no. 5, lock it, assign it, switch to 11, lock it,assign it, same for 12.
at about 20 miles to target is plenty of time. works great.sorry frederf, reread your post.

Try setting up the IP at 16,000’ 20nm from the target. Load up 2, 3, 4 with 2xMK84. Pass IP at 16,000’ and wait for all members to report houndog. Then give flight weapons free. Sometimes less is more with command.

It also helps to be in the trail formation at 20 or so miles out of target. otherwise wingie and elements tend to circle around the targets for quite some time.
