Big IVC issue…
-
Hi everyone.
I encounter some issue with the IVCclient, when i try to join a online game with the comms, my falcon get to the desktop but the IVC’s seems to crash (no answer of the .exe) and i can’t join any servers hosted by my friends… But when i run IVC client alone and try to connect to a server it works perfectly.
So could someone help me about this issue please ?
-I’ve already set the needed UDP ports
-I’ve already tried to reinstall falcon
-I have an upload bandwith of 700kb/s -
I am having this very same problem while trying to host a game for a couple friends. If I have the IVC boxes checked in comms and then connect, the game minimizes and the IVC comes up in a minimum sized window, I after a second I hear the windows error sound, and the IVC doesn’t respond.
FACEPALM EDIT: Enter the host’s IP in the field at the bottom of the window. When hosting start the IVC server then enter your IPv4 address in the field at the bottom of comms window. EDIT 2: When hosting you can also type “localhost” (no quotes) in either the IVC client or the in game COMMS window
Another problem I’m having: When I launch an IVC server and connect to it with the client, my friend is also able to connect to the server, but we can’t hear eachother. is this because my friend needs his ports forwarded too? Wouldn’t he not be able to connect if so?

Some time ago I also had some issues with IVC.
The problem then was that I used a german Umlaut (ö) in my profile name.
So make sure you do not use any (ßöäüÖùó …) in your name or call-sign.
worth to check,

Have you tried starting IVC first, then launch BMS Falcon?

Ok a few things. When you are hosting and using IVC you do NOT enter your own IP in the IVC connection but you enter the feedback loop IP of 127.0.0.1. Second the only time a client needs to enter a IP address into the IVC field is if the IVC host is a different IP than the server itself. If the server is hosting IVC from the same computer you can safely leave the IVC IP field blank on the clients and it works just fine.
For you guys having issues when running full screen and it going back to the desktop I’d suggest running the IVC client PRIOR to starting BMS. That way it doesn’t have to go back to the desktop to start IVC itself which is known to cause issues.

For some reason I thought I was having trouble with 127.0.0.1 earlier. Hmmm. Well anyway, again, IPv4 (not your internet IP) works when connecting to your self-hosted IVC server, as well as 127.0.0.1, and localhost. One of those does have to be entered in the IVC address when hosting.
I haven’t had any experience connecting to another host yet, so I’ll keep your tip about that in mind Stubbies.

Also very good advice.

I’ve only ever used 127.0.0.1 when hosting and have never had a problem with IVC that way.

When hosting yes you cannot leave it blank if you are going to use IVC. The blank tip was for people connecting to a host not for those hosting.
