Update(061018 )
1. Updated the program ; additional altitude below 10k’: https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/showthread.php?30601-MK-82-ballistics-bomb-range-in-terms-of-release-velocity-angle-and-altitude&p=471445&viewfull=1#post471445
================================================== ====================Dear all,
I made a small html page for getting bomb range in terms of release velocity (200~600KTAS), altitude(5k~40k’), and angle(-45~50degs).
I have pre-calculated the bomb range by solving an equation of motion of MK-82 considering air drag, gravity, density, etc.
To get the bombing distance, left click on a canvas with given parameters, velocity, altitude, and angle (see the below figure).
Detail explanations are shown in the left panel on the web.
This would be useful during AG mission.Install:
1. unzip the below file in any space.
2. execute ballistics_mk82.html on a HTML5 support web browser. -
Dear all,
I recently updated the graph by adding sight depression information indicating if the target piper is within HUD or not. Generally the sight depression is within ~14 degs in F16 has no delay cue so when u pickle, the bomb directly drop. This data is important when u do a dive bombing from high altitude or a level bombing with high speed at low altitude. The current calculations are almost same with the previous except adding slight depression information within HUD shaded by bold solid line.
Ex) when u do high altitude dive bomb from 20k’, u need >500KTAS and >40 degs of dive angle. If not , the delay cue will be shown in the HUD.
I hope it will help your AG mission.
Thanks, -

Thanks,Have you looked at the Realism Patch 5.0 document, which includes all of the ballistics for Falcon BMS. An older document but I believe still accurate none the less. I’ve used the ballistics tables to calculate and execute many attacks and training and the numbers are pretty much spot on.
Also Weapons Delivery Planner can be used for HADB, Pop Up, Dive/Toss calculations and includes all the data you need to plan and execute an attack and are displayed neatly on your Data Card. Save the DTC and everything is transferred to your aircraft to include weapons fusing data and VRP/VIP if it’s part of the attack. Quite efficient.Looking at your charts and comparing to the 30 Deg Dive Table (RP 5.0) it gives me 6200’ Range @ 500 KTAS with a fall time of 10.6 so looks very similar. I like the additional angles in your graph a very good quick reference. Very nice work.

Thanks for your interesting.
The result between two angles, speeds or altitudes, can be derived by interpolating the graph.
For example, if anyone wants to get the bomb distance with dive angle of 35degs, 500KTAS, and altitude 5k’ , first get two neighboring values of 30degs and 40degs of dive angles and get the average value.
More easy way, just follow the line of alt 5k’ and speed of 500KTAS and then click the spot ~35degs , u can the values in the graph. Thanks,

Dear all,
I updated the program ; additional altitude below 10k’ because most bombing performs in low altitude. The example using the program is a manual bombing. Please see the following movie, manual bombing 30degs dive.
The release condition in this example is 3k’ of altitude, 430KCAS~446KTAS, and dive 30degs
To get a bombing horizontal distance in the graph which is necessary to get sight depression is interpolating two points like the followings
1. obtain the bombing distance (~4000’) at 400KTAS, 3k’, 30degs
2. do the same at 500KTAS, 3k’, 30degs and get the bombing distance (~4300’)
3. the result on 446KTAS is the interpolation of the upper two values, roughly, ~4100’
4. Sight depression is 60-atan(4100/3000)~6.2degs
5. add ZSL AOA (~1.9degs) so sight angle is 8.1degs, i.e. 140mrEnjoy the calculations,

Update 101019
1. The below mission was made in BMS433. The newer BMS434 mission can get via https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/showthread.php?29722-TE-mission-Korea-Tour ; please download TEKorea434.zip in the first post and the mission name is TE09_MAN_boming (typo). Or see #4
2. Steerpoints 11~14 are assigned to the targets but in BMS 4.34 a pilot manually sets the elevations as 113’
3. One of target has been changed in BMS4.34, W13: fuel tank instead of radar
4. The update Navi_target.xml and new mission file can download below, TE09_MAN_bombing.zipHello,
I prepare the mission file about the upper manual bombing and target static objects for visual validation of bombing.
Files: four files after unzipping
1. T04-MAN_no_enemy_STP.ini ; T04-MAN_no_enemy_STP.tac ; T04-MAN_no_enemy_STP.twx ; mission file ; move this file in your Camaign/Save folder
2. Navi_target.xml ; visual validation of bombing on your recorded acmi using Tacview ; move this in Tacview/Data/StaticObjects folder ; for uninstalling just delete it===Mission======================================== ================
Environment: No wind ; STP situation(15degC 29.92inHg)
Weapons: 12*Mk82 = pair drops ; 6 try
Planes: F16bk52Targets: Heaju AB buildings ; they are assigned from way11 to way14
way11: Control tower (difficulty: medium) ; way12: Bunker (hard target ; must hit precisely) ; way13/14: Radar/Hanger(easy ; can be destroyed by splash damage)==Manual bombing 30degs dive profile==
Initial condition: 250KCAS Alt8k’ lead_distance (roll in): ~2.4nm Throttle: 90%
Dive angle: 30degs ; tracking time: ~15s
Release condition: 430KCAS Alt3k’ Sight_angle=140mr (8.1degs=slight_depression: 6.2degs+ZSL AOA:1.9degs)Bombing horizontal distance: ~4100’ @condition (dive30degs, speed430KCAS=446KTAS, alt3k’)
the bombing distance can get from ‘ballistics figure’ available in the upper post*Miss distance is the distance between the impact and center of target which is calculated by analyzing VHS file.
Mk-82 CEP is dependent on various conditions, altitude, speed, releasing method, environment, and etc ; the general CEP is known to 38’~333’ at release alt of 4k’ ~15k’ when level bomb dropping using CCRP? (source: 911336.pdf)===Static object of Tacview for visual validation==================================
This is evaluation how exact the bomb falls on the target using Tacview
Targets display red circle with radius of 100’ (general CEP of Mk82 CCRP mode) from the target center
The following movie show how it works in Tacview
