X52 joystick problems
-
I just hooked up an old X52 HOTAS my roommate had lying around, it’s at least 5 years old but I know it’s basically never been used before. Setup was a breeze and everything works but I’m having a problem with the joystick’s pitch. I have to pretty much bury the stick all the way forward or back to get the pitch to respond, it’s very annoying, the roll works perfectly with fine movements but the pitch is ether all the way back or all the way forward.
I’ve tried to go into the advanced settings and adjust the deadzones on the stick but it seems to do nothing. I don’t know if it’s a stick hardware problem or something I can fix with my computer… Anyone else have this problem before?
I’ve tried downloading drivers and software from the Saitek website but it doesn’t seem to be installing properly because I’ve tried multiple times but I can’t find them anywhere on my computer.
Thanks for any help.

I got the software to work but I’m not sure how to use it yet. I still have to press the stick far forward or back to get it to read on the software. On the software the X axis and Y axis(Y is the problem) they seem to be set up the same but there is a big difference when actually using them.

Maybe a stupid question, but did you perform the Windows calibration?

Probably a stupid answer but I don’t know what that is. I haven’t done it unless it did it automatically when installing a driver. It’s just strange that everything else is working fine except the Y axis.

Well I’m not sure what I did but playing around with the Saitek software seemed to fix it. It’s flying around great now.

Depending on your Windows OS version, the Game Controllers panel may be a bit hard to find. Just go to Run (Windows +R) and enter joy.cpl and hit enter.
That should bring up the Game Controllers screen and your X52Pro should be listed there. Calibration may be found under the properties or the advanced options for the X52 entry. I think. I don’t have the X52 or any other game controller at hand at the moment to try out. -
Well, the problem is back and I dont know what happened to fix it the first time so I cant get it fixed now.

Fixed again, this time I know what I did. After looking around more online I tried deleting some of the Regedit files to recalibrate the stick but that didn’t help. Then I found another guy that said to just unplug the cord that connects the throttle to the stick for a couple seconds then plug it back in… Voila, problem fixed.
When I fixed it the first time I just plugged everything to see how it worked then I unplugged it to rearrange some stuff, never figured just unplugging the two was what fixed the problem.
