Dumb bombs?? What?? They are smarter than JDAM :-P

Today i decided to engage some strategic targets with dumb bombs to make a kind of test.
I wasnât really using them in BMS before so when i found some targets that were out of air defence i decided to make a try.
To test their precission i just flew at about 20k feet and started dropping them at targets. And when most of them hit targets with killer precission i started to wonder WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON??!!
I was able to get almost 10 meters CEP. Thats better than JDAM dropped in GPS denied mode (regarding to JDAM manual). JDAM in GPS denied mode have CEP of 30 meters or sometimes even worse (when TOF is longer) i am not sure if its modelled in BMS and i guess it is not.So how is this possible? I am dropping them from almost 20k feet with precission of guided weapons
Here is picture. Missed the target ONLY by about 5 meters or so.

Wind effects are not implemented for bombs. If they were, you would miss.

Youâre TGP targeting as well, which is a much higher chance of kill than just using CCRP with the radar alone or CCIP.

Dumb bomb does not equal dumb aircraft. âDumbâ bombs are limited by the targeting system in the aircraft, after that itâs just physics. The targeting system in the F-16 isnât exactly a piece of junkâŚ
âSmartâ weapons just have the ability to maneuver, which is what delineates a âDumbâ weapon from a âSmartâ weapon. Unguided munitions were used for decades, rather effectively and with extremely close accuracy, long before guided munitions were available.

Thatâs why I like to use the term unguided vs guided I agree with Morte, dumb != inaccurate⌠CCIP means continuously calculated impact point and CCRP means continuously computed release point so the F-16 is constantly calculating a release with the highest pK possible, provided the operator (aka YOU :p) targets correctly

âŚmethinks BMS JDAMs are merely dumb bombs in a dress.

Wasnât there an entry in Falcon BMS.cfg that could enable winds aloft, with the downside that it would FUBAR AI targeting precision?

yes

Itâs disabled by default. I think it just needs some high power math guru to look at it and make sure itâs doing what itâs supposed to do and that itâs affecting heavy objects dropped from the sky. Which also brings into the discussion that itâs possible (read: necessary) that munitions calculations/modeling would have to be looked into as well. There are definitely hacks and kludges in there in order to make things âworkâ âproperly.â
