@Arrow … could you open a thread in the Mod room presenting it please… Maybe it will deserve a sticked thread. 😉

There is realistic FOV for 16:9 aspect ratio
mine tweaked the original and optimized for my current resolution.
      1080p
      1600p
      Comments welcome:rolleyes:

Its nice to see this kind of blur and magnification of the googles but I think its been on the particlesys.ini.

Looks very well done and believable. Would love to see this added to BMS someday. I don’t honestly have any idea what the real nvg looks like but this does feel like its going in the right direction.

Something like that, IMO need some work in the external lights sources need more bloom. The mask is accurate.

Nice but IMO since the nvg is 2 lens shouldn’t be a kind of light oval shaped? on the other hand in the 2+ monitors setups the stock one get’s tooo elliptical and should be more round…

Arty the NVG base is 640*480 circle shaped mask. The way you see oval cause the aspect ratio is on widescreen and the 4:3 goes into 16:9. The only thing I done is redone into widescreen and recreated almost the same masking and shadowing plus noise and tweaked a bit to be similar on the photos into my 27" display and for the 72nd guys who use 24" 1080p monitors. In the other way if you can send me a screenshot I can redo for the 2+ monitor users but its needs to be calculate the FOV + resolution and I think on a bigger FOV its an oval shape. 😉

well for 3 monitors it’s in the 100-120FOV for 2 monitors about 90FOV.

Also mine is a bit peculiar as my center monitor is 1920x1200.

nice job, could you create a nvg for 3 screens (1980x1200) eyefinity setup?
                        3x24"
                        resolution (5992x1200) with bezel correction
FOV set to 120default in cfg

Think you know the answer => link published in 3 to 4 weeks
unlikely this is something for f4patch as everybody has different brands of monitors and resolutions.
So a quick backup and replace of 2 files is prob better.
maybe in 4.33 this oval problem will be fixed (likely also in 3 to 4 weeks as the guys are having more important things to do.)

I tried it and I really like it, makes things a bit more immersive, I think it would be even better with the field of view slightly smaller as in the DCS video although it might not be practical.

this is what i’ve been told by a helicopter rescue guy: looking through NVG in RL makes everything looked at through NVG appearing to be further away, a bit like using goggles the wrong way. scanning the cockpit when looking through the NVG is not possible. so what they do is put their NVG on in such a way that they’re able to see through the goggles when pointing the eyeballs a bit up, while looking right at the instruments without goggles by pointing their eyeballs down.

it should be possible to simulate this, especially for use with trackir. what do you think, is this desirable and/or practicable in falcon? any comments … : )

                                            cheers,
