Tactical Engagement #1

Ok fellas. I’m stuck on TE 1, Ramp Start (Shameful, I know!). I am following the BMS Training manual v1.1 step by step and can’t get the engines to spool up. When I finally get to the step where you turn on the JFS (2nd Sweep para 2 p.149), the engine spools up to %20, then never any further. The SEC light goes out and I moved the throttle throughout it’s entire range of motion (Verified that the virtual throttle moved as well) and no response. It says to “click the Idle detent”. I have my Idle set as fully rear on the throttle. I’ve tried it a few times to make sure I wasn’t missing any steps and I don’t believe that I am. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Press ALT + I (if you’re using the default BMS keyfile and do not have ‘Idle Cutoff’ ticked in Falcon BMS Config).
See also the relevant Keyboard Layout file for your keyboard: \Falcon BMS 4.33 U1\Docs\Key Files & Input\Keyboard Layout Files to help you find any other callbacks.

Thanks Darkman, I’ll give it a shot. What exactly does the idle detent do in BMS? Prevent the throttle movement from having any effect?

It simulates the physical stop on the actual F-16 throttle, preventing the pilot from inadvertently shutting down the engine.
Try moving the throttle to about 50% when the engine spools to 20%, then, while holding down Alt-I, move the throttle to idle.

while holding down Alt-I, move the throttle to idle.
No need for holding it down, hitting it while you have throttle advanced is enough for the engine to spool when you return to idle.

Do you right click on jfs or left click?

Do you right click on jfs or left click?
If his engine is getting to 20percent, then the JFS has operated as required.
