Joystick throttle Z-axis and hat switch stopped working
-
Hi,
i have a very low-end Thrustmaster USB joystick with integrated Z-axis lever and a hat switch. (This one: http://www.thrustmaster.com/products/usb-joystick)
Without any setup from my part, this joystick worked reasonably well in F4BMS: Z-axis was mapped to throttle and hat switch was mapped to looking around in the cockpit. Now suddenly, the Z-axis doesnt seem to work any more and so does the hat switch.
I DID remap some of the keyboard keys and saved to my personal key bindings file. I also remapped some of the joystick buttons to different functions.
But everything worked as intended.
Now (another day), throttle and hat just don’t work any more.
They still work in the Windows 7 USB controller properties window, so it’s not a hardware issue.
Also i rebooted my machine at least once. But this didnt change anything. What i noticed in F4 controller setup, is that the throttle gauge shows both the green and red line at the same location. (The red line is AB threshold, the green line i don’t know) This was different on initial setup, where green line was at bottom.
I dont know how it got there.I tried loading a fresh “BMS Full” key mapping file, but that didnt fix it.
How can i reset the controller settings back to default values?

Ok,
i deleted my profile, created a new one.
Got the throttle control back ok. Could set AB/idle again and throttle is working fine again now.
I defined hat switch key from “no function” to rotate view left/right/up/down.
Then hat switch works in 2D cockpit again. (default key “2”)
However it does not work in 3D cockpit key “3” and external views.
I’m pretty sure this worked initially. Can you confirm and tell me how to make the hat switch work in all views? I think this worked by default after first install.
Help much appreciated. -
Also, Mouse look doesnt work in 3D cockpit.
In Advanced Options/View Control i have everything unchecked except “Enable external Mouselook”I have read manual section 9 especially 9.3.1:
Mouselook
How mouselook behaves is dependent on the Clickable 3d Cockpit Default setting. Please refer to the
Setup Section / Controllers / Advanced Options / View Control for a deeper explanation.
Option ON:
When you move the mouse, your view will not change. Instead, you will see the mouse cursor and
can click on buttons and knobs.
Option OFF:
Mouselook is enabled, which means if you do NOT have a TrackIR, moving the mouse will pan
around. Nevertheless when you click and hold the right mouse button, you can still click buttons
and knobs.Clickable 3d Cockpit Default is OFF, but still no Mouselook
As a sidenote, i have installed opentrack a view days ago, and played around with a camera and tracker, but NOT using it in F4BMS for now.
Could it have been detected automatically by F4BMS and messed up my view settings?I have disabled all TrackIR options in Controllers/Advanced/View settings.

Seems similar to https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/showthread.php?30920-3d-cokpit-mouslook
Unfortunately no answer there. -
Hat stick / mouselook problem solved! It was the opentrack installation.
When renaming the opentrack folder to something else, i have 3d cockpit hat stick smooth pan and mouselook back in BMS!
Something wort knowing i guess, and it is mentioned nowhere in the docs.
