X52 - loosing center during flight
-
I’ve noticed that my X52 is starting to loose center when flying around.
When I practice air refueling, I am lining up making small corrections. Next thing I know, my plane is in an uncontrollable roll to the left. It’s slight enough to notice and very annoying. I exit out of the mission and then go back to the control screen and sure enough, the joystick is not centered.
I’ve tried to search this topic but didn’t really come up with anything in the forums.
Anyone have more detailed information on this? Is it the potentiometers going bad in the darn thing? This is so frustrating! It’s like it’s loosing calibration in game.
I cleaned the drivers and software off according to the guide on this forum and reinstalled the drivers, plugged the device in, confirmed latest drivers in Device Manager, and then the software. Loaded the profiles and made the necessary changes in the controller screen.
Thank you in advance.

Might help ….
If not, easy enough to remove the ‘shim’.

Thanks so much for the quick reply Agave_Blue.
I did actually try that today and the problem still persists.
Frustrating because I just got Hard Decks x52 profile working.
LOL! My wife isn’t going to like me buying another joystick. haha.

Something like that
happened to me. I don’t know if this is the case but lights on the stick sometimes flashed then the stick gained a “new center” just like if it was trimmed. It turned out to be the cable that had quick disconnections so when reconnecting it felt the instant position as center. -
Common with Saitek.
Its not the stick its the programming drivers.
In the end its only in BMS too, I have tested extensively. Ultimately I have made a “recenter Joystick” button in BMS. When it goes nuts (about 2 times per flight) I recenter. And done.
Not sure, I think its in SIM- section of setup options for controls.

Hey,
open up your .key file with notepad
put this in close and save
RecenterJoystick -1 0 0X2E 4 0 0 1 “Recenter Joystick”
Go to settings controls. Scroll all the way down and select a keystroke (mine is set to Alt+C). This will recenter your stick in 3d world.

Thanks so much for the feedback you guys!
I had these plans of changing out the sensors and trying a new cable as I heard those are part of the power issues. I said screw it… After a few beers and a lack of judgment set in, I broke down and bought a X65!
My “toy money” is gone for a while. LOL!
Just need a kick ass profile for it like Hard Decks for the X52. I just want to get flying! LOL!

It’s a bug related to TS3 and SST drivers or profiler.
Go to teamspeak->settings->options->hotkeys and then select on bottom right keyboard and mouse only.
that did the trick for me!

Had the same problem driving me nuts. Did anyone have any success with the latest TS3 version? I’m still refusing to update it because the setting in the hotkeys section is gone.
-
Nope, still not updating here. But a workaround should be to select keyboard and mouse into the newest ts, then assign a key to push-to-talk, then use the Saitek profiler to assign that key to a button on the hotas. Have to try though

I don’t have TSS installed in my build. I think it may be the crappy serial cable or the connectors between the throttle and joystick. I heard that is also a common issue. I love the suggestion by Slack on creating a solution to recenter on the fly but I just really don’t want to deal with it. I bought this joystick 3 years ago and not worth the price I paid for it in todays economy. I have a friend interested in getting into Falcon so I’ll probably just give him the ol X52 and let him know about the issue.

Will line of code added to the .key file work w/ FF?

Even after all these cfg fixes, and TS3 configs, I still rely heavily on the “recenter button”.
Until I replace Saitek Ill have this issue I’m sure.
Warthog w/FSSB mod is the way to go for sure!

been there….
If it is the x52 and not the x52pro you might wanna try this: https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/showthread.php?19571-X52-Sudden-down-input-when-sick-is-centered&p=281864&viewfull=1#post281864 !!!
Whereas it is important to differentiate between if it is the electronics “bug” as described in the link above, or if the problem you are describing is truly caused by “worn out” mechanics (thus play and shake). If it is the x52pro, then it is most likely a mechanical “play” issue as the 52pro has not that electronically caused “off-center bug” the x52 had.
In the latter case try fixing those:
- the sensor holding “BARs”, which are in the same time the “gliding RAILs” for the magnets-shoes can get sometimes “loose”, causing a “play” and thus the “off-center” effects. Just tighten them (the screws (green arrows)) a bit.
- there are not POTIs, which can go “bad” or “dirty”. x52, x52pro and x-55 use magnetic hall-sensors, so that´s not your problem.
As far as for Warthogh HOTAS… one is totally “screwed” if that happens:
