Just purchsed the WARTHOG HOTAS - few questions . . .
-
1. tried to use the friction wheel on the throtlle . . . did’nt notice any change, why ?
2. TARGET seem to me too complicated, is there other software alternatives out there ?
3. what is the best way to configure one of the elements of the throtlle to act as a mouse to move around (View) the cockpit ?
-
1. The black one with the white stripe at the top of the controller? How stiff/loose does it feel now? You have to turn it through several turns (10-20).
2. There are like Pinnacle Game Profiler but TARGET’s pretty good. The GUI I think is more complicated than the script editor. There are a lot of scripts shared and learning to do some small edits (PDF manual helps) isn’t too hard.
3. Probably by making it the view looking around buttons and not the mouse. TARGET does mouse emulation but for the purposes of looking around a 4-way hat sounds better.

1. ahhh, i turned the wheel half turn each side, my bad (-:
2. i will check pinacle as target looks very complicated, atlist to me.
3. what do warthog users use typaclly for looking around the cockpit, which hat/buttons ?

Typically? Probably TrakIR or some other head-tracking solution. If you must use keys/hat commands, I recommend the panning commands plus ‘glance forward’ and ‘glance backwards’. You can (usually) bind those in the BMS Setup UI.

2: I don’t use target at all with my WT and run it as two separate DX devices. Kolbe’s key file generator has a predefined entry for this setup.
3. Before shelling out money for TrackIR needlessly take a look at the alternatives available at a fraction of the cost: FreeTrack, DelanClip, FaceTrackNoIR etc.All the best, Uwe
