Say we wanted to edit an existing theater into an 80’s scenario.

We started a normal campaign, then edited all the units with mission commander.

Made a copy of the entire theater folder, giving it a new name “80s” and its own theater definition entry. Then using the built-in “Falcon Editor” we removed modern weapons from various aircraft. Squadrons will no longer be resupplied with modern weapons.

Now we can play this 80’s campaign by loading the edited theater and selecting the edited campaign save.
^^But this is kind of hacky, I’d like to polish it into more of a real theater.

Is there a way to simply take this save and make it one of the default “New” campaigns which you can choose?
How difficult to change descriptions, campaign names, and pictures throughout the UI?

        Hi,

        very very interesting Thread!

Well - you could overwrite one of the campaigns. (save0.cam , save1.cam or save2.cam . I prefer the save2.cam and make a saefty copy of the original first)

You can open the save2.cam while using Falcas Genius “Mission Commander” Tool. One of the best Tools you can get for Falcon - just my 2 Cents.
After you opened the file you can edit most factors of the campaign. You can Change aircrafts (from F16 blk 52 to F 16 Blk 15 for examble) , move squadrons (From Seosan to Kunsan for examble) , Change names and many other things.

But (!) I was never able to find out how to block modern weapons! I tryed to edit squadron Support and setted all modern weapons just like AMRAAM CBU and so on to “0”. But in camapaign the AMRAAM and all other modern weapons were still useable. So the question is: How to block all modern weapons?

        Cheers
        Tom

Sorry not on the PC right now.

Also someone (a team actually) is readying a fabulous guide how to regarding the OP question on how to edit and create a new campaign.

Soon enough I believe they will release it.

I could post some details but after seeing their guide I felt I know nothing (which is actually truth…).

          So just wait a little bit… Just 3-4 weeks… [emoji38]

1/ Make a separate theater as you did, so you don’t need to manipulate the original folder anymore.
2/ You can find the 2D pictures files in art/resource and unpack them with F4restool - pretty self-explanatory. You can then edit them (with FastStone for instance); they come inverted, you save them not inverted and in 16-bits (256 colours), repack them and place the new files in the art/resource folder.
              3/ 2D text is in art/main/theater.irc

It wasn’t very clear to me in your post, but editing squadron stores doesn’t work, I suppose you edited the available weapons for every aircraft you want to tweak (I created new hardpoints for block 50/52, affected them to block 50/52, you can’t equip them with certain top-notch weapons I wanted to keep for block 42 - just an example). Then you squadron stores can be full, but not entirely usable.

Everything you need to know and links in my Youtube channel, "About" section.
