Betty volume

Is there anyway to adjust B’ Betty’s volume in the pit? (Other than my speaker volume control…)
I find that I’ve got all my sound settings nicely in the UI and fixed my speaker volume control, and the rest I use the pit volume control knobs (UHF, THREAT, MSL) but suddenly when betty starts to b#tch, ouch!

Seems that “everybody” do not know how to manage volumes in BMS!?! … certainly due to 15 years of different habits!
Everything is possible (just exactly the same as in the real stuff)
What you have to do it set your headset* volume “very high” under windows and/or using the real volume knob of your headset* device.
Once in cockpit, set all volume knobs at the middle then run the MAL TEST and set the “master volume” using the INTERCOM knob to have a comfortable audio volume of Betty (and breathing mask sound which is not adjustable separately from Betty).
Then, set your COM1 & 2, MSL and RWR according to your needs. (one more louder than the other … etc …)
What ppl are used to do (I can bet on that) is that they are used to set everything to maximum by default then reduce. This is not the right process. They should better set the INTERCOM first then the others according to their needs.
If you wants to reduces Betty without reducing the comm’s volume, reduce INTERCOM, increase COM1 & 2 to re-establish the comm’s volume.
(*headset or speakers)
…
I find that I’ve got all my sound settings nicely in the UI and fixed my speaker volume control,
Disregard UI setting. they are useless. Settings must be done in cockpit which will override your UI settings.

I think certain volume settings in UI is not controllable in the pit, such as engine noise?

Yes you are right. I was talking about radio, comms, msl, rwr and intercom volume.

I don’t think it’s written anywhere in but after Dee-Jay mentioned intercom volume, I tried it out.
The cursor goes green when over the intercom volume knob, but the know doesn’t rotate. However, it does control the volume of Betty!
I did not manage to experiment more, but what other volume does that switch control?(I’m sure in RL that knob is not to control volume of Betty…)

but what other volume does that switch control?
Everything. It is a sort of master.
Take a look into Red-Dog’s Dash-1

What Deejay posted is a good way to sort it out. I’ll add that to the next version of the dash1
It’s just to bad that doing so you actually have overall lower volumes, leading you to lower the engine noise as well - which is important to some of us
but it creates a nice balance between internal sounds indeedi think it would be ideal IF the BMS sounds were all boosted a bit. That would allow us to decrease volume to mid rnage and have more control opver what we control according to our liking.
But that’s a personal opinion -
For info, the only way we have to boost is via sliders and speakers volume because most of the sounds are already recorded and set internally at close to 0dB (max loudness)
Sliders “groups” are then set lower to provide balance. But yes, sliders are regrouping sounds by “type/category” (can’t have one single slider for each of course.)

For more details about the Intercom knob:
INTERCOM Knob
The INTERCOM knob has a cw arrow pointing to INC. Rotating the knob increases the volume of the signals available to the intercom set.
The intercom provides the following functions:
-
Monitoring and volume control of voice communication between pilot and ground crew or between pilot and tanker boom operator, monitoring and volume control of AIM-9 missile tone, TWS composite audio tone, and TWS missile launch tone.
-
Monitoring of systems individually volume controlled from the audio control panels.
-
Monitoring of fixed volume warning tones (LG and low speed warning tone, TWS missile launch tone, and IFF mode 4 audio monitor) and voice messages.
…
(I’m sure in RL that knob is not to control volume of Betty…)
