Would be cool to add this “training” theatre with specific ground targets and air threats within the Nellis Range. The aggressor squadron’s could serve as “Red Air”

I find it challenging to discover any faults in your line of thought here.

I never understood why people would want to have a “training” theater in a flightsim. Isn’t anything you do in a sim simulated air combat?
“Yo dawg, I heard you like simulations, so we put a simulated aircombat theater in your air combat simulator.”

Maybe we could put a virtual simulator in BMS so people could get simulator hrs in an F-16 simulator before flying a simulated F-16. :nosep:

your remark reminds me one mid 90ths situation - I still had 386SX 25MHz, but my comrade had 486DX….I took Su-27 Flanker diskettes to him and we loaded simulator…I was very happy to see nice AC models, FM and resolution…at this point he told me “why they did not make jet trainer simulator in the package…it is very dangerous and unpleasant to start with heavy two engine fighter!” LOL

I have always, ALWAYS, thought that Aggressor/Adversary aircraft skins are just too damn cool. So to that end, I’ve always wanted an appropriate theater in which to fly them.

Sure, I can fly my camo’d out A-4E in Korea, but it just feels so much cooler in Nevada (or Guam).

And, of course any scenario you develop in Nevada is “realistic” since it’s basically all made up anyway.

So that’s just me. I want to pretend I’m a fighter pilot who got assigned to Top Gun to shoot down F-14 hotshots all day long. 🆒

Fully with toonces there. Aggressor stuff is cool, plus this area leaves room for new 60s vintage jets coming up like F-104s and F-4s, F-5s. Also anything from Reno to Edwards and the US West coast is just way cool as for jet and warbird history.

I tried booting up Ted’s 16 segment Nevada theater but it hard crashed my BMS install now. Who knows why.

I was hoping there might be something salvageable in it, but I can’t even get it to open anymore. Sorry guys.

                          Mike and the community,

It has been a couple years now in the GUAM PR (PhotoReal for Ted…LOL) proof of concept’s theater and it is nearing a close with the upcoming Beta release.
Most of the grunt work has been completed and in the coming Falcon weeks after it, the rest will fall into place, I believe.
We have learned A lot in this endeavour, and are destined to learn more.

But, I feel we need a “Sandbox” now to play in, much like my days with the Insanity Ward\MW team……LOL!!!
                          Soooo…here is what i propose:

                          16SEG\4096Tiles @ 500M rez……example of a 500M tile:

This would be Doable and I would make the MAP for it.

                          Just a thought,

I’ve got all the aggressors you could want. Just need a map for those bad boys.

                                  K’ I’ll start the MAP.
Someone’s will have to learn how to tile in PR.( I have a plan)
500M rez for outside the Air Base’s, 50M inside our “Booble”.
Gives them a balance……here is a quick TUT on how to get your PR tile to play nice nice with Falcon\BMS DX engine:

                                  "Its Sand man, Its Sandman……LOL!)
Remember a .dds image has no pallette 😉

                                    Few points:

Guam concept has ocean tiles all around and because that did not “take away” too much from 4096 it was still big enough not to see the border/edges of the theater.

With Nevada 16 SEG you probable will see the edge of the theater soon once you off the ground (or very soon into the flight if Nellis AB would be in the center of 16SEG). Seeing edge has very annoying and immersion killing effect!

I have entire Las Vegas and sorrounds ready and tiled PR(50M i think) , can give you to save time (if you want), you could “beef up” resolution of the Nellis AB to get even more detail just there when at lower altitude.

                                    Just a suggestion.

Whatever you gents do, give the textures/tiles more saturation.
Collected a huge folder of shots /videos from the Reno to Edwards area for IL-2 map projects and the areas look nothing like those Google satellite images in real.

This honestly depends on many factors: time of a day, turbidity of the air, humidity etc, etc.

                                          I prefer naturalistic color-tones instead of “PC-colors”.

Well, BMS tends to make any flushy coloured landscape desert or none into a pale excuse except at high altitudes.
I don’t live there of course. But from what I’ve seen the whitish greyish style is an absolute rarity on shots from the US nevada and Edwards California areas, I have like 200 shots of that stored at my PC.
