Sound and Views Learning
-
Hi from a very recent convert to Falcon BMS so please bear with me.
I have been getting my head around the various options to set the sim up and have a couple of questions which I hope some more experienced out there may help me with.
1. I am in the pit (Training) at the ramp nothing turned on in the aircraft, canopy open and I hear a sound around the aircraft (F16) It sounds like air con or an air starter. This sound is present in all the different views but there is ‘dead’ area for the sound around the centre of the left console. I pick it up again either aft or forward of this spot. It’s not a problem just wondered if this is normal.
2. I have been struggling with setting up views especially using the mouse. I managed to get the zoom working using the mouse wheel and holding right click to move around. But when I hit the escape key and the menu pops up to either resume or exit, I can move the mouse freely to view around without holding the right click. I much prefer this but it will not do the same thing when I’m actively in game. I am using Track IR as well but sometimes I prefer the mouse. I thought there might be a conflict so tonight I did not start up track IR but still had to hold down the right mouse click. Also de-selected track IR in the set up options but it made no difference.
Can anyone advise please?

2. Might not be what you expect, but I’d rather be patient to the point you don’t want to use your mouse over your Track IR anymore.

If you know anything about Track IR you will be aware that it doesn’t always ‘behave’! Having the mouse is in that sense a useful back up. Nothing on the ‘dead’ sound zone I guess? But thanks for the reply.

I have a mouse, I have a Track IR. The TIR does everything I need. It’s been lasting for almost two years. How long have you used it? If you can reply without sounding too rude.

Never had any problem with TIR either.
It can behave bad in hi reflective light environment I heard but that should be easy enough to solve with curtains
2 keys you need in your BMS setup: TIR recentre and TIR wakeup. As for the dead sounds, my bet is that it’s simply the sounds of your wingman starting up.
I’d say it’s nothing to worry about, sound direction is a bit weird at times in BMS. I noticed that sometimes I had a wingman starting on my right, but I heard his sounds much louder if I looked right ….If you know anything about Track IR…
If you can reply without sounding too rude.
Yes it would be nice to have a little bit more consideration for those trying to help you !!

Absolutely not my intention to be ‘rude’ in my reply. Been using TIR for many years in flying simulation and it is very immersive, I just find sometimes for me it needs quite a bit of re-centering in sim after switching different views. Also find in long flights the neck starts to complain and I like to revert to the ‘hat’ or mouse. The ‘sound’ thing explanation makes sense….something I never thought of at the time. Thanks
