IAM Loft/Dive Toss
-
Hello,
My understanding is that we can toss IAM weapons like the JDAM. How do we do that in BMS and which mode do you use, PRE or VIS?
“JDAM is deployed from fighter, attack and bomber aircraft. It can be released at low to high altitudes and release maneuvers include dive, dive-toss, lateral toss, loft, or straight and level, within a release envelope that includes off-axis delivery options as well.”

Thank you

RTFM.

Yes I saw that but it does not provide an example like it does with DTOS. Below is what I gathered, can someone confirm if this is correct?
WCMD: Can be lofted in PRE mode
JSOW: Not meant to be lofted according to the BMS manual
JDAM: Can be lofted in PRE mode
IAM VIS Mode: No Lofting
SDB: Has no VIS Mode
SDB: NO Lofting in PRE modeThank you

Any mode that produces a SPI can be used to deliver a JDAM. I guess that’s still limited to CCRP-IAM and DTOSS. The LAR is not predictive for future release conditons so it must be known what effect the maneuver will have no LAR before it is done. Simply one flies in a new way (toss, dive, etc.) and LAR changes as conditions change. If the timing and maneuver are correct conditions are within LAR and WR is held for 1-3s and JDAM is released.
It should be remembered that JDAM isn’t a ballistic weapon and will not fly a similar trajectory to an unguided. Very steep lofts aren’t ideal and if the JDAM’s chosen path is below the released one it will pull down to it.
There should be no difference between CCRP-IAM and DTOSS with regard to JDAM release parameters.
