Chinese fighters from Shengyang and Liuhe are really annoy. Wanna frag a huge oca package to take their bases out. Thinking about the following:

      1. 2 flights of F15E of 4 ships each for oca strikes (each flight for each airbase)
      2. 1 flight of 4 ship F16 for SEAD (about 3-4 SAM sites visible on map)
      3. 1 flight of 4 ship F15c for air superiority
      4. 1 flight of 1 ship KC135 for tanker service
      5. 1 flight of 1 ship E-3 AWACs

The basic plan is to have F15c, AWACs and Tanker head out first. Then strike elements follow behind. Once they got there, they refuel and fence in. The strikes shouldn’t take longer than 30 min. On their way out, they refuel once more and the whole package head back to bases. Now the challenge part, F16s can’t carry any fuel bags. Has to be HARMs and CBUs. So wonder how many refuels you need enroute from Kimpo to Shengyang? Also, somehow manage AIs so they don’t burn outa fuel too fast. What do you think? Is this doable? Anyone has flown this kinda mission before?:)

What campaign is that? i’ve just started my first campaign in BMS the tiger spirit one, and in that at Shenyang the chinese have i think su-30s and J-11s, but at Liuhe they just have an AWACS squadron.

Possible. I would not frag more than five flights per package though because Falcon becomes finicky after that. Once you get to the sixth flight you should frag a separate package. Besides, you can only enter so many a/c in the data link. Also, you may run into some “availability” issues among the squadrons, so plan the flight hours in advance.

F-15’s have a huge range with wing bags so no worries with the AI. As for your flight take a centerline and fly very high alt. You be be better off fragging B-1’s to take the runways while you fly pure SEAD, with wingbags.

I tried that large strike package twice there with huge losses then I first fragged multiple SEAD strike missions to take out the SA10’s (which don’t show on the planning map). There are SA5, SA2 and SA6 up there also. Of course as soon as its dark have F117’s hit it and they will shut it down but you must frag follow up deep strikes on the runways every few hours to keep it inopeartional.

You don’t need AWACS and Tanker in the same package. They are support AC, so just put them on station in an appropriate part of the map.

If the F16’s are AI, you gotta give them bags or they’ll never make it. The ‘dynamic bingo’ will kick in and they’ll go home before firing a shot. You can give them a ‘refuel’ waypoint, but recommend you put that on egress. Forget the CBU’s and give them HARMs. Remember AI fire HARMs in pairs, so, basically, one AC per SAM site …. OR, an asymmetric load with one HARM on one side and 2x CBU on the other.

Or, as suggested, you could go with other AC types … B1, etc.

Why B-1, not F15E? The reason y I want to bring tankers is even with 2 wing bags, it’ll be very tight for 16s to get up that far. Also, seems AWACs can’t look out that far from down south. It only shows red triangles on the map. Perhaps I can use more 16s and less F15es cuz 2 per each base should be enough right?

I change loadouts on all flights adding fuel tanks, best missiles and bombs (gbu for runways)available. Most flights I now task myself. If you have F117 and/or B-2 use them to hit the red airbases at night and the B-2 can hit any PRC airbase. You can add 600gl fuel tanks to most F16’s greatly extending their range otherwise they will bingo and rtb without hitting their targets. The red airbases appear to be fixed in about 3 hours. Once I shut down the airbases I use F16’s for closer OCA strikes and B-52, B-1, and F15E for long range OCA strikes constantly hitting the runways. Sending a large strike package to a defended airbase launching fighters and active SAMs is often near suicidal and watching my aircraft get shot down is no fun. The AI in sead escort is not good. Even doing all this I still see numerous flights rtb with all their ordinance even though they reach the target and there are runways that have been repaired. So hit them smart, hit them hard and keep hitting them while your ground forces advance. You will then also be able with air superiority to start pounding their forward ground forces with you CAS aircraft rolling them back with huge red casualties. This worked for me twice in DPRK Strong campaigns recently.

I pretty much ran out of worthy ground targets in my Veteran Strong DPRK campaign. Almost all factories, bridges, depots airfields in NK are gone. My JSTAR replay only shows a small cluster of red dots near Pyongyang and these red dots don’t show on planning map, every where else it pretty empty. That’s why I wanna poke the hornet nest in PRC. Btw, there is something weird in my strong DPRK campaign.
                    1. I can see those naval squadrons available (F-18s and F-14s), but I can’t frag any missions for them. It always says bad timing even after I stretch to 12 hours later takeoff time. Nor did AI frag any missions for them either. I can also see the carrier group near the east coast. But they seem not being doing anything.
                    2. I saw F-117, B-1 all those good shit in my add package screen. But I don’t see them any where in the list of squadrons. So the new addition to my order of battle are only a couple of new F16 squadrons, one F15e squadron. 1 B-52 squadron. That’s it.
Is there a bug? How is your reinforcement coming along?

The DPRK Strong campaigns evolve with lots of reinforcements. The drop down will show aircraft from squadrons not yet in theater but part of future reinforcements. The B-2 are usually in Japan also. Once the carrier shows up positioned stupidly close to NK I have to constantly change their barcap/patrol areas to protect the carrier from regular attacks as the cruiser escorts don’t fire anything. I frag flights by looking at the current ATO tasked for each squadron (usually the only only bar per the sliders I set) and if minimal flights are already tasked I can frag a mission even 20 minutes to start. Frag missions an hour or two ahead and insure you have enough time allotted for reasonable flight time or you can get error messages. Often you will find whole squadrons sitting out the war and here you can frag flights at will. The campaigns with some experience actually make sense and normally work well if I invest the time to micromanage it including changing all loadouts. Red ground and air units constantly resupply and unless you destroy every member of the unit it will respawn including sam units. I fight the campaigns to win while trying to avoid losses and shut down the red air operations.
