'U' symbol on the HAD screen

Was flying over it and it turned red (and i turned white . . . i thought it was AAA and i am right above it ).

What is that symbol for and should i mark it as a threat (PPT) ?

I guess “U” stands for “Unknown” and from my experience, it is a shilka.

I fired a HARM at the U one time and in the debriefing, it stated, that I’ve kill a ZSU-23-4 with a HARM. So it is definitly a thread if you fly low

I thought Shilka is actually A. Maybe there was A near U?

A little thread hijack. Does anybody knows when aerial radars shows up on HAD? I seen multiple times aerial radars (with ^ above). But it seems to be rare, most of enemy fighters do not appear on HAD, they only appear on RWR.

Watch out when firing at unknown emitters….

You could be firing at one of these:

And you probably wouldnt cause any damage
