      Hi all.
Hope you can shed some light on my little problem i had in a mission. In the screen shot, my plane is in autopilot and following steerpoint to Kimpo airfield, and it is flying strait. As you can see, it is following it offset to the left of the steerpoint. Why?
Also, in my DED I’m tuned in on both VHF and UHF to Kimpo airbase, but when I call in, I get Hyon approach for an active runway (02), witch does not exist at Kimpo.

      What is going on?

The first part is relatively easy to answer … winds aloft. Your nose is pointing to the left of your track due to a sidewind from the right. The second I am guessing but, you called Kimpo using UHF but you are nearer to Hyon so got the answer from them. Radio range is sorta modelled now and those blasted North Koreans are using the same UHF Freq. as Kimpo.

Try getting closer to Kimpo before contacted them … if you were close then I don’t know. Maybe a bit of North Korean Signals Warfare.

I don’t think so. Winds are only 4 knt from 359 (DED) and the FPM isn’t significantly ‘pushed’ off center by winds …. not enough to account for the offset of the FMP/Tadpole and the stpt diamond. Maybe cursor zero/cursor deltas?

No. Look at the wind… there is no drift here. I bet on a delta SPI

            EDIT… as said above.

I stand corrected … to be honest, I forgot the wind speed and direction is displayed on the home DED page 😞

What do you mean with cursor/zero delta?

I have also had similar problems doing training missions at Kotar. I’ve set 3 target steerpoints and when I arrive at Kotar, all steerpoint are offset with copple of miles up in the mountains.

Moving the cursor from the SPI can/will introduce a cursor delta that must be cleared to ‘reset’ the SPI to it’s original location. You do that by cursor zero on the HOTAS or on OSB 16(?) on the HSD. On the HSD if “CZ” is highlighted (lower left) you have a cursor delta. That could 100% account for the KOTAR issue you describe.

if its from a slew, shouldnt the diamond have slewed with it?

It has, diamond is offset right

Hyon Ni a (DPRK) and Kimpo (ROK) have the same UHF freq.
So you’re correct, imho it shouldn’t happen

If your nose would turn left when wind is coming from the right, you’d only make things worse. Your nose needs to turn into the wind to counter it. 🙂

Yesterday, I tried the STPT / Delta / Autopilot combination. In AG mode, I slewed the SPI dozens of miles away from planned steerpoint, but autopilot does not follow it. If SPI is extended beyond steerpoint, autopilot will begin turning over planned steerpoint’s location.

Pretty much says it all. Why are you even bothering? BMS in NOT real world, and as such real world situations don’t count for a hill of beans. We can only work with what has been simulated. Making posts such as this serve only to complicate matters even further, and create further confusion for those who might less knowledgeable than others.

IRL the AP steers to the steerpoint without cursor deltas anyway, so BMS and RL match here.

why bother asking? why bother identify areas that simulation is less than 100%…? is that actually a serious question?

Or are you asking why I bother with BMS?

You miss the point entirely. You making constant references to things that aren’t simulated are of no help at all when someone is confused by what they do have to work with. Even commercial simulators have limitations!

I do wonder why you bother with BMS sometimes, yes. It seems to me you’re engrossed in trying to prove to everyone how much knowledge you have about the real jet. I’m sure many of your posts would earn you great kudos on F16.net but here they make you come across as a bit silly imho. Do you actually fly the sim to enjoy it? Serious question.
