X-55 Ghosting Issue
-
Just want to check to see anyone else is having a ghosting issue with their throttle. When moving my throttle, key commands active on their own. From reading other forums, they seem to think it is related to having an AMD motherboard. Some say going with a USB 3.0 port will fix the issue.
I have submitted two tickets and their replies did not fix the issue. To get around the problem at the moment, I do not program any critical key commands to my throttle…only the key commands that do not affect the flight.
If anyone else is having this problem, what motherboard do you have and what port are you using.
Thanks for any feedback.

Review on amazon regarding the x55 and it mentioned someone had issues with ghosting and amd and solved it with an External Powered USB Hub.
the Throttle and stick are rated 400mW, USB 2.0 max allowed is 500mW, probably this high load on the USB causes the USB +5v to fluctuate this is quite normal and goes down to 3.5-4V in some cases, and here all sorts of issues happen and would to me explain the ghosting of random I/O’s firing in the throttle unit as the throttle is potentiometer controlled this may cause undesired load on the Voltage supply internally in the Throttle unit.
Here is a response on another forum to the above.
"So I was having serious problems with phantom button presses that only seemed to be getting worse as I played.
I took your suggestion and plugged in the X-55 with my Rock Band powered USB Hub and the problem disappeared instantly. 45 minutes now with not a single phantom button press."
Another thing to check is Team Speak. Open TS window and click on Settings/Options/Hotkeys and in the drop down menu (lower right corner) select Keyboard and Mouse Only.
I run an Asrock z77 with a I5 and don’t have the issue.

Thanks. I saw the forum as well and went out and bought an External Powered USB HUB and I no longer have this problem. I called and mentioned it to the Mad Catz representative as well.

What devices are using USB ports?
The x55 takes 2, right? -
What devices are using USB ports?
The x55 takes 2, right? The throttle and stick both use USB. In my case, I plug the Joystick into the computer and the Throttle into the external powered USB port.

for what it’s worth, no issues here with a Gigabyte motherboard, both devices plugged directly into motherboard

I’m concern with other USB devices drawing amps. TiR, wireless modem, TM MFD, etc.

More likely the problem is around the USB controller on the motherboard.
Some boards even have their own fuses/breaker per USB I/O.
Suspect lower quality boards?
