When I go into afterburner is it just on or off or is there a range through the afterburner. For instance, just over afterburner detent would be 10% after burner and near the end would be 90% afterburner. The reason why I am asking, if you have any insight here, is when setting the afterburner detent in the configuration screen; How far from the top should I set it? If its just on or off I can set it near the very top, right?

the “range” is independent of the traverse.

that is to say, you can’t “limit” the amount of afterburner you get. at 100% throttle, you will always have 100%

i set detent at 90%+ because often you will have to have a very graduated response before burner (tanking, landing, formation flying) but mostly, when you are in burner you are 100% burner in my experience.

Afterburner has a range. There is are two key callbacks, min afterburner and full afterburner, you can try manouvering around with them and see how they handle. There will be noticeable difference. I think I read here that the afterburner range is not smooth, but in discrete stages. I am not quite sure about the mechanism, though.

“First of all the GE does not have stages like the Pratt. It does have different power settings but not stages. In your last comment about the smoke and the engine speeding up, the engine does not speed up in augmentation. The RPM’s are the same, the only change is you are dumping raw fuel into the exhaust creating augmentation or added thrust”. Found this here. http://www.f-16.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=9086
