Ramp start sequence

My apologies then since the written language and attitude can be easily misunderstood.
For the case itself, it is not a request or wishlist, just enlightening up some unknown or unnoticed details and waiting for next acts by the proper ppl.

no need
For the record, my WIP version of the checks - to be released with 4.33 already has the change for EPU and Sec check
as I said, i’m sold since long enough -
I’d say that from the perspective of playing/flying a sim there is no right or wrong regarding start-up procedure, except anything that makes the plane not operate properly in the sim is clearly wrong (so what needs to come in certain order is a good question). I like how anyone can choose their level of immersion, just as everything else in the sim.
Personally I follow the checklist in BMS documentation, except I skip some of the pre-check stuff as I find it too tedious (the switches are always set as expected anyways), I don’t bother listening through all the Betty messages, and I skip the EPU and Obogs checks; I just mentally make a note that those tests should have been performed. It is a compromise between keeping it more or less real, while saving a little time. One reason why I like going through a complete checklist is that it is a good refresher of where everything is and what systems I need to be aware of. E.g. I would never forget where the aerial refuel switch, trim dials, or overheat light is, because I look at them at least once during every single mission.
Though I almost always do a ramp start, it does happen that I would like to re-fly a mission (e.g. as I was re-learning systems after a long break, I forgot how mavericks need to be aligned towards target during launch with solid crosshairs, and missed every single missile - so after figuring out what went wrong, I like to redo the mission but entering the flight during the appropriate time of the mission). For those times - or when I just have very little time - it would be nice if the system was set up so that when you enter the pit, everything would be as if you had followed a full ramp start. It seems to me there is stuff which does not get set up from the DTE, e.g. threat circles I think … and if I remember correctly mavericks would also be powered off.
Also, it would be real nice to be able to further accelerate time speed during a ramp start. Of the 20 minutes before take-off, I typically spend about 10 minutes at x4 time warp first waiting for INS to align, and then for an appropriate time to start taxi around 5 mins before take-off. I read in some thread that it is not safe to time-warp above x4. However, it would save me a little time if I could safely use x8 or x16.
While I am anyways on a rant here regarding start-up, for some reason after DTE load I don’t get the pre-programmed MFD setup for NAV mode which is set up for the DTC. For every other mode I get the correct settings, but for NAV mode I get some other setup without SMS or FCR. Don’t know if that is a known bug/problem or something I do wrong.

Red Dog, I am one of your worshippers and follow your checklist by the word, whether or not it’s implemented or some of the ramp start checklist is eyecandy or some of the test never fail.
That’s why in a previous post I mentioned it takes me up to 15 minutes to complete a ramp start. I follow each & every word & do every test. -
Possible post 4.3x feature: a high % to have a critical showstopper failure if all pre-flight tests are not properly performed.

Dispatch reliability of say 95%. So if in the sim we have a no-go fault during pre flight test, then exit the sim, restart. Simulates jumping into the standby jet.
Talk about realism…

What some of us are thinking, is to implement a % of chances to have critical failures if self tests are not made during Ramp Start. As soon as self test are properly made, this % drop to zero
But nothing has been really defined yet and I do not know if it will be a future reality which would be nice to have IMO (this will give a real reason to follow RL checklist and will makes all test more than simply candy eye :D).
Rendez-vous in 6 - 8 weeks (certainly post release of the future version) …

Oh, if anyone finds it helpful, I created a “Crew Checklist” based off the real-life HAF Crew Checklist and adapted it for use with BMS (in addition to proper placement of SEC/EPU checks) here. I made it out of boredom, but if anyone finds it helpful feel free to use it. I made it a while back so if there are any mistakes, please let me know about it so I can update it.
I also made a Japanese version. I actually need to update it because I mistranslated “press and hold.”

I’ll give it a try jinroh.
And Dee-Jay I will only accept this new failure scheme if your body is modeled in pink overalls coming out to the flight line and hitting pilot in the face with a pie.
