AGM-88 Harm missle…...is this normal?

I notice that sometimes the harm missle will not lock onto a target unless I manually hold down the key press to hold lock on the target, is it just normal that they are not able to aquire lock sometimes……does anyone else have this issue, I have had this issue for quite sometime I just had not said anything about it?

Hmm, what HARM targeting mode are you using?

I assume the HAD page? What color are the HAD symbols you’re trying to lock? If I recall any green or gray symbol can’t be. Only yellow, red, red reverse video.

I use the HAD mode, and only try to lock up the targets that are active, avoiding the greyed out inactive targets, I am familiar with those and know they cannot be locked up, even today I had to hold down the key press in order to keep a lock on the target, it workes most of the time, about 80% but the 20% time it does not hold lock is somewhat annoying.

Green/gray symbol can be pre-planed targets or sent by Dlink or acquired by the HTS when the target was emitting the way I understand it.

Try using the keyboard to lock. If that works, it a hotas problem.

I thought so too, even to tell someone “of course you can lock non-emitting HAD database entries” and he says “No you can’t (in BMS).” So I actually tried in BMS and I guess you can’t. It seems like an obvious feature for real life. I figure if I’m shooting at a “possible” location in BMS I’d have POS-PB so I’d be fine. It’d be nice to do everything on the HAD page though.

I think the keyboard suggestion is a good way to go, I am going to try that……it is also nice to know that no one else mentions experiencing this issue which means it is likely not a bug with the sim.

I have had the same problem with AGM88s. In the training mission it works fine, but in the campaign or TE created missions. I have to hold down lock on an emitting (Yellow) target…fire…and hold down a little longer. Master Arm is ON. AGM88 is powered. Target in the HAD is Yellow. Still have to hold down TMS
