Workaround for throttle with no AB detent
-
Hi all
I have a Saitek X-55 HOTAS. The throttle doesn’t have any AB detent. I have setup the throttle to have the AB come on when the throttle is pretty much all the way forward. I still find myself in AB, mostly when I am in a dogfight or trying to out manouver a SAM. I don’t realize that I am in AB until I see my fuel flow going very high and I suddenly find out that I have burned a lot of gas.
Is there a workaround I can use, say assigning a button on my HOTAS that has to be pressed and held before the AB will kick in?
Thanks!

I think you could do this with Foxy for a Cougar, but not sure if its possible with Failtek’s editor.
I dont know of a way to achieve this in BMS’ controls assignment, either - but its a pretty good idea, I think. Maybe worth it for one of the devs to look into in the future, if you cant already do it somehow?

Search the forum for vjoy and Joystick Gremlin, I guess something should be possible using these tools to abstract your joystick to a virtual device (it will also allow you to get rid of Foxy, TARGET etc. completely).
All the best, Uwe

You could probably rig something up with joystick gremlin to cycle different output curves based on a button state. If you can’t figure it out, the dev is very helpful on his discord channel.

You can physically mod the TQS if you are adventurous. Please read the whole thread thoroughly, as the OP posts in different stages of experimentation.
