It is sensing the rotation of the earth to align itself properly. It used to do this with mechanical gyros. Now it uses laser beams and a LOT of math.

Modular Mission Computer. Or as we liked to call it the Mickey Mouse Computer. 🙂

That switch is for turning on what used to be called the FCC/EFCC/XFCC/etc. functions depending on which block of aircraft you were on.

Try leaving it of and fly a mission 😉

Or read the BMS manual 4.32 dash 1 by Red Dog, page 56, section 1.2.5.11 Avionics Power panel:
“The MMC switch (old FCC) enables power to the fire control computer (Mission Modular Computer).”

What is the MMC exactly for? what does it do?

It is essentially the heart of your avionics, and manages the avionics master modes, submodes, interface with other onboard systems, manages system and avionics fault, etc. It also handles weapon delivery and symbol generation.

Um, what Corsair said above. 🙂
