Clearing up some DB editing issues

Hi guys
Following these threads:

I’ve been trying to develop an airbase for a theater.
Successful for the most part, although i’ve been having the same issue that Blackwolf had encountered (things appearing different in falcon editor and lod editor) and tried to fix it using demers’ and Arty’s responses, with no luck yet.can anyone please explain to me what i might be doing wrong that could lead to that?
or simply how to do it right
i’ve been following Blackwolf’s new tutorials (part 2 - 12:30) but still get this mismatchThanks

In falcon editor u see objectives consisted of features. In LodEditor u see features.
So are features different? Or objectives ain’t as u want them?
The logic is u create features u add records to the database. U create records for objectives in the database. The add copy way.
Then you add the features to the 3d database and assign them to the corresponding DB records.
Then back to falcon editor and u add features to your objectives.Sent from my MI 5 using Tapatalk

Hi Spearhead,
I think what you are talking about is that when you append your lods to the parent record Lod1 sometimes does not show correctly. Instead it shows Lod2.
That has been my experience, although I havent fully tried.
To solve this I suggest you either replace Lod1 in the parent with your Lod1 model again. Or to re-append to the same parent record just Lod1
To avoid this to begin with I plan to try this strategy.
First time you create a new parent record I Will just place in It Lod1. Write down the number for the parent record, append texture file also but nothing else. Close down Lod Editor and reopen and then append Lod2,3 etc. That is what I need to try out.
I think Lod Editor does not handle well the creation of a new parent record and appending to It more than one lod file.
Thats my hipothesis

doesnt have to do with lods, for starters i do all models with only 1 lod.
To be more specific i’ll try to explain myself better. i copy the objective and features in falcon editor and then they show up fine in LOD editor.
then i append new parents in lod editor and assign them to the objectives. if i view them from there they are all fine.
once i open the objective in falcon editor and try to place my features it seems that one of them (the first feature i copied) is there but has the model of the second feature and so on for the next ones and the last one doesnt have a model.
sounds strange but i hope you get the idea -
Try to close and open LodEditor after every new lod appended to a parent record lets see if It fixes It… Sorry if this is not of much help

Still same thing happening. I’m reseting the database every time. Can you please explain the part about the file offset? I think I’m doing this wrong in f4browse too.

I do not use f4browse because my theater is too big for It. I do my 2d database editing in Falcon Editor (FE). To be honest, I find the process of copying new entries faster and easier in FE.
Anyways…. I am confused by what you are saying… You should not do anything with f4browse regarding Parent Records or Lods offsets. This are directly CREATED by LodEditor when you leave the -1 value at the “Setup Wizard”. If you use a diferent number you EDIT the parent record number you enter.
Same happends when append/selecting the Lods. If you leave -1 you create a new LOD into the database. If you enter a different number you assing an already created LOD to another (because It probably is already assigned to one) Parent record - The one you have created or selected before.
To be clear: Append = creating a new entry into the database. Could be a parent record or a lod.
Select = well… Selecting something already existing.
To get back to basic, a parent record is the envelop that correspond to a 3d object in Falcon. Lods are the different models depending on the distance, or if they show the object damaged or destroyed. Each lod will contain a 3d model.
File offsets has to do with the location this lods have in the big KoreaObj.LOD file. You should not edit nor touch this using f4browse. This will be assigned by LodEditor when you append new lods.
This appending Parent record and lods I cover with my videos, so I have pending this steps on a commented video just If the non-commented one is not enough clear. I Hope I can do this video soon.

sounds strange but i hope you get the ideaI think I know what is your problem. When you copy using Falcon Editor your features you make an exact copy of each. This new features will already have in Lod Editor a value of Parents record for the Normal status, the Repaired status, the Damaged status…. Etc.
When you append a new parent record with lods you have to write down the number assigned to this new parent record.
Now you go back to CT Records (still in Lod Editor) and locate the newfeature you addcopyed, change the “Normal” status value (without clicking the Normal button) with the number you wrote down of your Parent record and click in the update button to save your change.
The zeroes mean this status has no Parent record assigned.
Lets see if thats your issue

Nope. I think you have that clear.
This will require a commented video and also some investigation so that I can avoid the issue I find myself with when appending to the database.cellphone
