Cockpit Display Extraction Issue
This is an odd one for me, that I hope someone has seen and fixed.
I’m setting up the MFDs, RWR, and DED to a 2nd monitor.
First I turned on the Cockpit Display to External Windows in the Configuration section, to enable multiple monitors.
Then I set up the four displays to go to my heads-down monitor. (I’ve done this procedure at least 50 times)
Ran the sim, but all the displays went to the default location with the default size. I opened the Cockpit Display Extraction again, redid ALL the numbers, verified it was saved and ran the sim again. Once again it placed all the displays in the 0,0 location with the default sizes.
What the heck is going on? Like I’ve said, I’ve done this at least 50 times, setting up loads of cockpits, and this is the first time I’ve ever seen this.

by any chance, have you set certain files in your install folder to ‘read-only’ for safety?
This sounds a lot like what happens when thats the case.
That’s a negative. I checked the files to make sure they are not read-only. The file that contains the data regarding the external ‘gauges’ is windowconfig.dat, and I triple checked it. It gets updated whenever I modify the location of the ‘gauges’ AND it gets updated every time you quit the sim….with the default info again.

Aren’t you supposed to drag/drop them where you want them and then they stay put?
No…that’s a different program…i.e. MFD Extractor. I’m referring to the game configuration within BMS. Launch game, select Cockpit Display Extraction, and use pixel location for external gauges…MFDs, RWR, etc.

Been a long time since I’ve used built in extraction but, enable borders, drag into position, disable borders, no?

Does it have something to do with how you set up Prefs in Windows? I generally use “Extend Desktop” with multiple monitors, and place them in accord with how I’m set up.
Yep…did all that, Stevie.

Maybe you could give YAME64 a try to check if this tool has the same issue? Some folks have also reported good fps improvements using its 3dhook extraction method, so you might be in for a double bonus so to speak
All the best & I hope you’ll get this sorted out,
