How to control Cougar MFD Button Back Lights from BMS
-
Hi,
you all, is there any way to control the backlighting of the MFD buttons out of BMS. I mean if I switch on the backlights in the virtual cockpit, so that the backlights of the MFD switch on.

Oh hang on you’re talking about the external MFD’s right? Can’t help you with that but I’m sure someone else can

Not quite sure, but definitely you‘ll need to have
- Cougar or Warthog as your HOTAS
- Software TARGET
Then you can use a switch or button to control the light of the Warthog Thottle: on, off, dim.
Maybe the lights of the MFDs are accessible the same way? It’s nice to see the dark throttle light-up when triggering the idle detent.
Just a neat gimmick…If of interest, I’ll post the TARGET-code.

you can turn the mfd backlighting on and off (and change the brightness) by pressing the lower left rocker switch down and the two adjacent buttons to the right of it simultaneously.
No software required
All the best, Uwe

Is there a combo for the throttle too?

Sorry Roccio, no idea about the throttle, I need to check the docs on this one.

Holy crap! I’ve had these things for like 7 years and I didn’t know they could do that! Used to pull up the GUI to turn brightness off after flights every time - I guess ya learn something new everyday, even old bastards like me. Thanks!!

Glad I could help
When I first got the MFDs I read the manual (yes, I read the manual :)) to help me decide wether I even needed to install the “drivers” for these things because I was planning to use them under Linux too and I came across this handy button combination.
Naturally I never bothered to install the drivers because the MFDs worked OOTB both on win7 and Linux.
All the best, Uwe

No.
As mentioned: Only possible via TARGET.Ok, thank you. It’s just that it doesn’t remember my decision, so it’s annoying every pc start to set the leds off…

You can also control brightness through software
