UPDATE: Rejoice brethrens, the rack works somewhat properly now! It will show up weirdly in OGLLOD, but in game it looks fine as wine. I’ll work on unwrapping the UVW to a more easily worked on state for more detailed texturing later
Update 2: The UV mapping is done, if anyone can do so, please help me texture this thing, i’ll send you the .max file as well for ease of texturing.
Update 3: I’ve changed the smoothing groups so the top side of the rack has that edgy look according to pictures i’ve found, since the old one is over smoothed and became too rounded

IIRC there’s a 6-round brimstone rack in BMS database, for Tornado.
you can tweak it for a 3-round rack. -
Well, it’s made into an LOD so it’s sort of a one way trip, and it’s neither accurate or looks nice(to our standards now), so i decided to just build a new one

Update: I managed to scale it down
Seems like i will need to increase the polygon count of the turtleback shaped thing, currently the way bms shade it is weird, if for example, left side is bright and right side is a bit darker, it doesnt change color from bright-> dark gradually but went like 100 left half and 0 right half immediately -

I advise you to search the word of “3dsmax smooth” or “3dsmax smoothing group” on Google. -
I tried setting up the smoothing groups, but another weird thing happened is that if i were to import my model as it were, the textures looks fine, but when i scale it down 10 times to fit(either in 3dsmax on the original model, or with the scaling function of the LODEditor, my model starts looking like this. The textures are just 2 2048x2048 pics with the same color all over it.
The weird thing is the rails are just fine, the only thing with texture problem is the turtleback shaped thing -
I also moved the center point down a bit along the Z axis to it’s on top of the model, that seems to be where the model will be mounted to the pylon, but now everything is breaking even harder, seems like the viewer is confused now. There really needs to be more tutorials on the whole modelling thing for bms

Well, i’ll gladly post my .max file here if someone want to finish bringing it into bms for me, meanwhile, i’ll start reading then, but since this is just a missile rack, a lot of the stuffs i’ve found is just way too overkill and confusing…

Stranger things happened, it showed up correctly in the OGLLOD from 3ds exporter, but it still breaks when i replace the rafale brimstone rack 1st LOD with it and use the view it. I followed what the exporter manual said, smoothing groups for every faces, alpha channel to none. Though i use a multi material since i want to have the rails to have another texture file.

Update: And the weirder thing is the model wont even show up in bms. Before this, it still shows in bms, just with some weird texture issues -

Just quick checked the .lod in OGLLOD after downloading it.
Cannot see any anomaly unlike you’ve mentioned, thus it seems does have good shade on it. -
