Multiplayer
-
Dear all,
I have managed to convince my brother to download and start using Falcon BMS. Installation and setup at his computer was the easy part. He enjoys it, but we would like to try the multiplayer feature. This is where I get lost.
I was under the impression that I start it, by creating a new Comms. I had created new, used 0.0.0.0. as a host and told him my IP (checked via whatismyIP.com). All IVC boxes are un-ticked. I have created TE. However, he is unable to join.
Few questions (any pointers are greatly appreciated).- Both of us are in the Korea KTO
- Do I have to share with him the TE?
- Do I need to setup up IVC?
- Having limited abilities, I am afraid to join other servers (don’t want to ruin it for anybody)
Any pointers/help is appreciated (even pointing to the manual
).
Thanks for all your help and Merry Christmas!Cheers,
Andrej -
Did you forward your port?

Andrej1- good, that’s a prerequisite
2- no.
3- not if you dont want to use the internal comms (aka : using the actual sim radio to speak to him). If you are both on something like TeamSpeak or in the same room you dont need it. -
Something like this here: https://www.lifewire.com/how-to-port-forward-4163829
Many websites have guides and Krause also made a video about how to set up a server, including port forwarding.

Dear l3crusader and razo,
thanks for your help and advise. I will search for Krause’s videos (I have actually used his website tutorial).

How would I do that?
Pretty much required for the host. Usually also for the client, but I think there are case where it’s not required for the client. To be sure, better have ports forwarded on both. There is some description in the manuals, I think, but the actual process is slightly different for each router.

Try here to see if it helps for you: https://portforward.com/router.htm

Thanks Agave_Blue!
I will review the Manual as well. -

When you say he is “unable to join” how far does he get ? Does he see your game under the Tactical Engagement/online tab ? Presumably not but its so easy to make assumptions. Have you tried the other way him hosting ?
Your very welcome to make test connections to the public server at Veterans-Gaming. You can do no harm I assure you.Bms 64bit, KTO, ip 205.161.30.10 BW1500

Dear MaxWaldorf,
Thanks for the link. Will review it and will attempt to follow it step by step.
CobaltUK,
I am pretty much a noob at the multipayer theme. Unable to join was the message that my brother and I have got. We tried as you have suggested, but the issue is that I did not forward ports or anything in that matter.Once I am back at my home, I will attempt as suggested in all links and documents provided. I will forwards ports for my brother as well and then we will attempt once more. I will keep you posted.
Thanks to all of your suggestions.
Cheers,

Dear all,
once again, thanks for all your help. Usually, I am not very obtuse but this time it is a slight challenge to me. I have managed to access settings for Port Forwarding (the ultimate Internet access point to house). However I do not know what to fill in all the fields.
Attached please find the Port Forwarding Settings:Don’t know what to put for Service and Local Host.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks!

@Bad:

Hi Bad Boy,
I selected Custom for Service type. However, my local IP for the Network card (192.168.1.1) is not accepted.
@MoreSil,
no, I did not used any outbound/inbound rules. In the Network Firewall options (not Windows itself), I went directly to the Forwarding. I will look into the Windows Firewall option. Thanks for all your help!

192.168.1.1 should be the default IP of your router (gateway)
Check in your router’s firmware which IP is allocated to your computer via DHCP (this one is your local IP)

Hi Bad Boy,
will do.
