[Tactical Engagement] Kritiki Elpida

Hi folks,

i’m happy to share a conversion / re-implementation of my “Kritiki Elpida” TE which I originally created for the IKAROS theater.

The TE is based around Crete and as before, REDFOR have launched a major offensive from their occupied territories in the eastern part of the island. A major ground assault force has also landed at the southern coast west of Timbaki apparently headed for Chania.

Defenses on the island are severely weakened with hardly any army elements remaining, so it’s on you to halt the REDFOR advance the best you can before they reach and conquer their objectives at Iraklion, Rethymon and Chania. You’ll have some support from two Apache helicopter units and also

Defending Souda AB will be essential for your success, however you can also fly sorties from Santorini if you don’t enjoy landing amidst a major tank battle on the peninsula (it’s an impressive sight, but not for the faint of heart :))

REDFOR air elements will be operating mostly from Karpathos and Rhodes (F4s, MiG-29As, Su-25s). Known AD threats: SA-2, SA-3, SA-5.

Tanker (Netherlands KC-10 “Camel1”, west of Santorini) and AWACS support (“Sentry1/2” south of Santorini) is available.

Currently there’s no way for BLUEFOR to actually win the TE, you’ll need to hold out at least a day as that’s the time limit for REDFOR in capturing their objectives (they usually manage that around 1530 on day one if unopposed), so sanitize yourself and give them the best you’ve got!

Installation: Extract the file contents to your

Data/Add-On Aegean/Campaign

folder and select “kritiki elpida” from the “Saved” TE tab in BMS.

Forgive me but documentation is a bit sparse on this one… I also did not re-set the bullseye to a meaningful value so it’s going to be the default in this TE unless you set it manually when starting the TE (apparently near Orniros RW up in the north).

Just to be clear: This TE was developed from scratch, no files were converted / used / harmed from the TE of the same name by yours truely available for the IKAROS theater.

Sorry for any confusion that the announcement may have caused as it mentions a “re-implementation / conversion”.
