TRIM\AP DISC Switch
-
On the Manual Trim panel is a switch labeled “TRIM\AP DISC”. It has two positions, “NORM” and “DISC”.
The manual has this to say about the trim panel - A good habit is to always check that all needles are centered, Especially if you have a real cockpit where knobs might not always be so. Place the TRIM\AP DISC switch in DISC and ensure that stick trim actions do not cause flight control movement or needle deviation. Return the switch to NORM , apply stick trim to check needle deviation and recenter.
So what does the “DISC” position actually do and when would a pilot implement the use of this setting?

The “DISC” position “disconnects” the sidestick trim-switch and only the knobs on the trim panel work in that position.
A pilot would switch to DISC when something is wrong with the (remote control) stick switch….

The “DISC” position “disconnects” the sidestick trim-switch and only the knobs on the trim panel work in that position.
Well that’s easy enough to understand! Now why would a pilot want to do that?

I’m thinking runaway trim where the side stick begins to command trim but won’t stop. The disc switch alows you to stop the trim command.

I edited my first post once I noticed I forgot the second part of your question [emoji1].
