      Wine Version (winehq-stable) wine-3.0.4

      requires 7z & winetricks installed

      create a new wineprefix, adapt path as necessary

      export WINEPREFIX=“/mnt/hp1tb/games/wine_prefixes/mission_commander/”
      export WINEARCH=“win32”
      wine wineboot
      winetricks vcrun2015
      winetricks dotnet45

      download & install mission commander (latest version as of 2018/12/24)

      cd $WINEPREFIX/drive_c
      mkdir mission_commander
      cd mission_commander
      wget http://www.weapondeliveryplanner.nl/files/mc/Mission_Commander_0.5.7.349.7z
      7z x Mission_Commander_0.5.7.349.7z

      run Mission Commander

      ignore the first couple of exceptions that will occur until you point MC to your BMS installation (can live either on your windows partition or your wine install on Linux)

      wine Mission\ Commander.exe

      shell script template to use as a launcher for your desktop / task bar / panel / menu / whatever, ADJUST INSTALL DIR ACCORDINGLY

      #!/bin/bash
      export WINEPREFIX="/mnt/hp1tb/games/wine_prefixes/mission_commander/"
      export WINEARCH="win32"
      cd $WINEPREFIX/drive_c/mission_commander

      wine Mission\ Commander.exe
      exit 0

      ```![](https://i.imgur.com/DxEmI7K.png)
      Enjoy,
      Uwe
        Great news once again by you, Uwe!
        Step by step you’re making us finding more than one single ‘affinity’ and a new future for BMS.
        With best compliments and regards. And warmest season wishes too!
        Gianni.
          Hmm. Uwe, you’ve solved so much stuff for BMS on Linux, I think you need to do something as Arty, collect all the stuff in one thread , as a list.
          Maybe it will help the others trying to go Linux way.
          Cheers
            I’d like to see a proper “Linux / Other” subforum here… a single giant thread won’t be of much use I’m afraid.
            All the best,
            Uwe
              Nice one m8.
              How about running linux on a separate machine and target the other pc falcon folder?
              I mean as I, some will-might have a spare old pc that can’t handle windows very well, so running linux would be faster and provide more resources making it easy to run MC WDP TacEdit and maybe some display extraction…
              For example I have an old P4 17" laptop with no SATA hdd and it takes ages to boot, Windows 10 can’t be installed on it cause of HW compatibility issues. I have a spare IDE hdd and since the laptop can take 2 hdd’s I’m thinking of using linux as a secondary OS and why not and display extraction to use it for my Cougar MFD’s.
              Though I will have to solve the actual desk space issue it would greatly help out I believe.
              I must look and update in the hotlist the Linux section to get the whole picture of your achievements of which apps actually work on linux. I hope it will help and others.
              Once again thank you for your time and effort… and to be on the community spirit: “bahhh since you don’t come at my home to set it up for me, you didn’t do anything…” :rofl:
                True what all Arty stated above…
                except for the last one: I’d say instead “Don’t dare to come at my home and installing your stuff on my machine, you know well why” 😛
                Just joking, of course. Keep on this way, Uwe!
                  Hello Arty,
                  yes, this should work fine. Actually I run several older laptops with small-footprint Linux installations like CrunchBang++ or Xubuntu / Lubuntu, and as long as you stay in BMS “2d” view everything should work as expected.
                  I use these mostly for editing TEs or similar tasks and that works great.
                  During my recent MC installation I had some problems because I installed MC into a different “WINE bottle” (basically a stand-alone MC installation) and of course it had problems finding the BMS install because there was none 🙂
                  In your case however you should be able to install everything (BMS, Falcon 4.0, MC, WDP, ….) into a single win32 WINEARCH bottle so the tools should be able fo find your BMS install without any problems.
                  All the best, Uwe
                  PS: the upside of this is you can then “zip” your wine bottle (basically a directory in your home directory) and put it on some network drive or upload it to the cloud then then all you’ll have to do on a new laptop is install WINE and unzip the backup directory and everything should be there again.
                        those two must accompany the plethora of delicacies “mezedes” which I believe you must have an idea about it…
