FSSB-R3(L)-Warthog HOTAS Upgrade.

I consider to buy a Real Simulator FSSB-R3(L)-Warthog HOTAS Upgrade. But before the final ordering decision I’m very interested in your experiences with this upgrade.

I have been using the Cougar version of FSB-R3 for about 4 years with no issues whatsoever. Works as advertised. Installation uncomplicated with good instruction.

I too am considering the FSSB mod for the Warthog but the price kind of spooked me ($500 IIRC) and it seems like they’re not as available as they used to be.

I’ve been using R3(not R3 Lighting) for almost 4 years. Overall, it’s good product.
The powerful control software is noticeable. It provides standard/advanced features, including non-cooperative force setting for both pitch and roll axis.
However, it does actually have cons imho. The maximum force level is limited to 13 lbs. and it’s far less than real SSC and even FSSB R2/FCC3.
Most importantly, you definitely need to fix it to support 10 lbs. class force. The weight of stock base plate from Warthog is insufficient for the force mod. -
I recently picked up an R3 Lighting and couldn’t be happier. It takes some time to get used to, but it’s great to fly with. I even use it for space shooters. Tiring, but extremely gratifying.
I do agree that it should ideally be fixed to the desk, however. A set of desk mounts is on my to-do list.

R3 … not for sale for home users, only for professional users
R3L … 450 + 45,45 shipping + 94,50 VAT = € 589,95 ~ $ 671,61 -
I gave up trying to understand the inflated price at paypal checkout. Real sim could not explain. You seem to be saying its VAT ? but nothing was displayed to say the price was plus tax or any mention of tax anywhere that I read. Maybe I was blind but I gave them all the details that I did have and no explanation could be found.

I got this info from Real Sim Sales Department and yes, it definitely is VAT. I’ve just checked and Paypal is very clear

I presume that came later after payment completed but was certainly not displayed to me as I TRIED to pay. I gave RS and PP more than 1 chance to explain what I was the reason and neither could offer anything. I even provided screen shots. Looking for 2nd hand now.

Nope, I just checked it. Ordered a 3L and went in Paypal, without paying, so it was before. Look at the drop down arrow right of the amount

Just got my FSSB R3 Lighting in today and ran it through it’s paces. Straight up sexay is what it is.

Oh disregard “L” for lightning I get it… Yeah been using it for 4-5 years now, zero issues. You won’t be disappointed.

I have an R3L that I paid a fortune directly from RS, and I would not trade it for anything else. I’m really happy with it !
And the RS website states the price is excluding VAT :Note: European Community Citizens must add the European taxes
This price is only available for home user customers. -
Had an R3 for about 4 years, just upgraded it to the lighting version. Works amazing in Falcon. I also really like it for WW2 planes, but it can be tiring to the hand/arm in long dogfights, but I have a Gunfighter stick for that.

Nobody is having a problem with the Warthog stick breaking off? I know some guys are breaking them using the spring.

After many years with the force-sensing R3, I’ve recently took a flight in a friend house. He was using the old standard -moving- Cougar stick.
I couldn’t stay in a straight line. I’ve crashed.

So will this work with other games like X4 Foundations, IL2 Sturmovik Battle of Stalingrad, and Cliffs of Dover Blitz?
Can I still use my Warthog Profiles, like Rybo 3? I’m guessing not, so what changes would have to be made?
