DX Diag Controller ID
-
Dear all,
on my brother’s computer, I have initially plugged-in Thrustmaster T.Flight Rudder pedals and after a few days I plugged in the Thrustmaster Warthog (delivery dates were different; prior to that he used Saitek X45).
I would like to use DonLduk’s profile, however problem starts with a proper Controller ID.
I get following:- Joystick ID: 0
- Throttle ID: 2
- Rudder ID: 1
It should be:
- Joystick ID: 0
- Throttle ID: 1
- Rudder ID: 2
I tried doing normal troubleshooting, from following DonLduk’s instructions, unplugging everything except a keyboard and a mouse, and reinstalling drivers. However I always get Rudder ID 1 and Throttle ID 2.
What am I missing? On my computer, DonLduk’s instructions are enough to reset the ID order. I use CH Pedals, but that should not be an issue.
Thanks for all your help!
Cheers,

Unfortunately for some of use with newer rigs (AX370) this configuration method no longer provides a solution in BMS anymore.
My trigger may flash as Button 1 for a brief moment then register as 97. The MFD seem to hold good at 33-64 & 65-96 (for the most part)
Button 1 on the throttle registers as 129 while the hat correctly replies as 22 to 25.
With or without Target.
I have deleted config files , set “device sorting” (even as read only), unplugged all USB devices except KB Mouse, then re-plugged in a logical order. As well as many attempted fixes, DX device “ordering” tools ect.
I’m at a loss, unable to fly.
There are no problems in any other app.

Thanks roccio but I don’t see that as the answer for me.
I am having some success today after a few hour plunging in devices one at a time with reboots in between, but if I try to use Target ( for the “Hat” switch on the throttle & a few center “off” functions) I’m back to the original problem.
Is there a way to get the “hat” 4/8 way to work without Target ?? And the “center” pos for the three way also. ??

Shadow, before plugging in in a logical order, did you delete all the USB devices from the registry before doing so? I used USBDView to remove any and all traces of TM stuff (vendor ID 044F) before plugging in, and with a “clean” start I can order my devices pretty much as I want, in any order.
It’s a lot of faffing about for something that could be much simpler, but hey… we need something to entertain us since DOS and chasing 605K passed on.

I did try that last year, cleared the Registry, used some USB tools etc , even did a clean OS with BMS as primary focus.
I am of the opinion that I need to bite the Red pill and purchase Win10. 7 does not fully support this new hardware.
There’s no USB support while installing Win 7 until usb3 drivers are installed. Thank God I still have a Ps2 Keyboard. :pray2:

I concur with Malc on USBDView which has solved many USB device issues for me. May be worth a try as you can see all USB device IDs and driver info which is useful to see exactly what is installed as you add each device

I tried to use USBDView, very interesting tool. Unplugged all USB devices and deleted then via USBDView, sans keyboard and mouse. Then I plugged each Thrustmaster device individually. Joystick, restart, throttle, restart, pedals, restarts, everything else.
However, the order did change, not as expected.

It should be:
-
Joystick ID: 0
-
Throttle ID: 1
-
Rudder ID: 2
-
It was:
-
Joystick ID: 1
-
Throttle ID: 2
-
Rudder ID: 0
I am not sure if the Rudder pedals cause this problem, or if this was caused by the fact that I have plugged pedals first. I also followed the Manual as suggested and the Device Order was fine.
Given the fact that my brother’s computer is causing issues with other games (namely Combat Mission Black Sea will not start, whilst on my system, very similar setup, it works fine).
Nonetheless, thanks to all for very informative posts. Despite failing at this, I remain optimistic and believe that my brother will be able to enjoy BMS in its full glory.

Hello all,
just to provide you with a quick update. The reformat was a success, it took a lot of time but worth it.
I have added one more script line to the TARGET Editor (for DonLduk’s profile):Configure(&TFRPRudder, MODE_EXCLUDED);
This have solved unification issue with the Warthog HOTAS. Now, he can fully enjoy this magnificent sim.
Thanks for all your help!Cheers,

Hey all,
apology for bringing this older thread up, however recently I had an issue with the Controller ID (different PC). This time, I tried - successfully - JoyIDs software. I was able to reassign ID # to my pleasure. If you have issues with Controller IDs, consider this tool prior to formatting entire PC.Cheers,
Andrej
