"DEST" page.

Hello Forum
While in flight I decided to divert to Pohang (N36 02 779 E130 48 826).
I used LIST #1 DEST to enter the appropriate coordinates.
The system, however, kept insisting on inputting N36 03 011 E130 45 828.It was close enough and by using radio frequency 236.6 I could contact the tower.
But, why can I not get DEST to input the proper Coords?
Am I making a mistake?
Thanks and a Happy New Year from Ireland.

Difficult to say. There are many ways to do it wrong. It should work. So, I’d say yes. Which one? Say more, or make a video. HNY to you.

Did you have any system deltas? (Was CZ highlighted?)
-
Did you start inputting the coordinates with the appropriate ICP scratchpad numbers corresponding to the cardinal directions (2 = N, 4 = W, 8 = S, 6 = E)?
-
This seems to be the best place to ask a stupid question, once in the cockpit is there a map view, at some point I thought it was a knee board map but I have none, I’ve been spoiled in other sims having maps showing where you were at depending on realistic settings.
-
I had the same problem sometimes, with no aparent reason.- No mistakes where made, and several trials were done in every case. I couldnt find the logic of such behaviour
-
Thank you all……I don’t think CZ was highlighted, I’ll check next time.
Yes, I did enter N and E.
No, I don’t have a knee map. I know there is an add on available but I’m not techi enough to be able to download it.Any other thoughts?

There are parts of the airplane where it’ll automatically add your system deltas to your entered coordinates. I still haven’t wrapped my head around why or if it’s really like that. System deltas actual fudge your L/L around. I believe the theory is you put your FCR cursor over the real bridge/tower/whatever to calibrate your INS position to your actual… now that I say that shouldn’t coordinates not move? Like I said, I don’t grok it.

I saw that happen several times over the years, with absolutely no previous system delta. I have no idea why it happens sometimes or not though. Probably some glitch in the code.
The “error” in distance is small enough to not change much in the end result, so I never gave it much thought. Just one “falconism”, sort of. -
Oh yeah the rounding error, that’s small. I’m guessing it stores the values in some Falcon XYZ coordinate and enter in L/L gets translated to XYZ and then back to L/L for display. And well, you try Google translate into Chinese and back to English.
-
Have experienced it before.try puting the coordinates via ICP, STPT button.

Quite likely, yes.

The rounding error shouldn’t give you a 1 NM difference though. At most it would be around 10 ft. I’ll take a look with the given coordinates.

Thanks again for your replies, I tried it again during a subsequent flight and it worked well.
Perhaps, as ewildcat says, it’s a Falconism.Bayonet.
ps, what is a system delta?

The problem is that every change in the STPT page, affects your actual flight, using Dest page doesnt happen

If you slew the FCR/TGP in A-G mode, your waypoint coordinates change with the slew… you need to press CZ to clear the deltas and reset their original position…

Rather : with the STPT page, you can affect only your active steerpoint. If you do not want to change the active steerpoint, you have to use the DEST page.

Found a bug indeed. Not the exact one mentionnend, but I believe it can explain what happened.
If you change the N coordinate, the E coordinates is changed as well. So if you input the E coordinate first, then the N, the E gets changed.
If you do it in the natural order (N then E), no problem.

you can change whatever stpt you want. u just enter the number of stpt and u change the coordinates

Yes, but that also changes your active steerpoint. If my active waypoint is n°4, and I want to edit waypoint n°6, I can :
- use the STPT page. In that case, my active steerpoint will change to n°6. That will change your SPI, break TGP track, etc.
- use the DEST page. In that case I can change WP n°6 while my active WP stays n°4.
