Standard training session from original falcon 4.0
-
Hi,
I’m working on the different training proposed on Falcon BMS and i use also as a support, the original book from Falcon 4.O.
It seems that operation describes in the book is not completely in phase with session training in BMS version . Is that normal ? For example, it is the case in the Sidewinder AIM9 training session, if i follow instructions from the book, it does’nt work. Have you experienced that ?
Thanks for your help.:D -
Yeah, the training TEs in BMS are not really the same as the original F4 training engagements.
which part of the AIM-9 training mission are you having problems with? are you able to fire the missile?
-
Thanks for your reply,
No prob to fire the missile, ACM radar OK, don’t know how choose between AIM9P and AIM9M……Does the Combat mode is necessary because it shut off the screen…How to see which sidewinder is selected ???
Thanks -
well you can hold down the NWS/MSL STP button for a long press (more than one second) to change which type of missile is selected. short presses less than 1 second will change which specific missile of the current type is selected.

NWS/MSL STP button ??
I will have a look tonight what this NWS/MSL button is …… I will put aside the F4 book instruction for this mission (N° 12) because it is confusing and irritating…Thanks

Missile step does many different things depending on what mode you are in …. Nose Wheel Steering on/off, Air Refuel disconnect, cycle AG bomb modes, cycle missile stations, cycle AA missile type, etc.
I’m sure I’ve forgotten something. One of the most versatile buttons in BMS.
-
The button closest to the screen on the right hand side of the image.
-
good installation……and what is the equivalent on the keyboard ???
-
Depends on your keyfile. This is one of those buttons you want either on your stick, or the combination well known to you.
Id recommend putting it on the stick, personally.

The default keymaps are here: C:\Falcon BMS 4.32\Docs\Falcon BMS Manuals

what i’ve found, viewed on setup current keyfile keystrokes
Wpn A to A cycle hardpoints
Wpn A to G cycle hardpoints
Missile Hardpoints cycle
Wpn sidewinder cage/uncage
Wpn sidewinder Spot/scan
Is this one of this above ???Nothing found concerning nose wheel…

Should be this one, aka Missile Step.
Default is, I think, SHFT-/ .

I’m wondering if in this mission N°15 in F4 BMS, these AIM-9P are loaded…when i look on the MSD, there are 6 A-9LM…while on the original F4 mission book, they talked about AIM-9P and 9M…
Looking on MSD:
Pushing button SMS (BSO-6)
i read at Top left of the MSD: AAM (below BSO-1)
near BSO-6, 6 A-9LM is indicated, does that means that AIM-9M are loaded? What about the 9P ? -
Sounds like it …. AIM-9M. You can no longer rely on the missions in the old F4 manual to be accurate … not as missions and not as instruction on the current aircraft and systems.
There may be some helpful things there, but also much that is out of date for the current sim.

Is there somewhere a documentation which describe the procedure to perform each mission under BMS, as we can find in the original F4 manual ?
Thanks -

ThanksUnfortunately, no
I agree though, for newcomers, it would definitely be a good addition. The basics are covered in the F4 manual, but its worth checking the BMS-Dash-1 and BMS-Manual for the system in question if you have trouble doing the mission.
