Reinstall Issue " The Registry Issue" BMS 4.34 and 4.33 U1-
-
If you want to reinstall BMS, sometimes you might see an error message like:
“The registry entry points to a folder that does not contain a valid Falcon BMS 4.34 install. Please restore the missing files and try again or remove the registry entry to be able to install the product again.”
This message shows you deleted your Falcon BMS 4.34 folder instead of using the proper uninstall method (using Setup.exe in your Falcon BMS 4.34 Setup folder), or something went wrong during the uninstall process.
See BMS-Manual page 21 for correct procedure for uninstalling Falcon BMS.
In such a case, you can manually cleanup any leftover BMS 4.34 registry entries by using this file (unzip, right-click, select “Merge”), works for both 32-bit and 64-bit OS.ps: This works for any Update state of The Legal version of BMS_4.34……Good Hunting.
pps: BMS_4.33_U* also included if needed.

Is this worth a Sticky, Thanks

Based on experience there will be plenty of people who do not bother to read the BMS-Manual, or delete their Setup folder, or just delete the Installation folder anyway; so I’ve edited slightly and stickied it :thumb:

Hey,
Simply delete the registry entry: search on: “Benchmark Sims”. Complete remove from root and the installer will run as hell.
I added a screendump of my registry.
Hope this helps.
Cheers.

But there are no Directories in a Registry, which Version are you removing ?
I found 15 references to Benchmark Sims. But I do know which Single Key is required to be removed.
Its safer and quicker just to merge the provided file. That’s why Dunc originally started these series of threads.
People with experience and the skills to safely delete entries from the Registry don’t need help to do so.
My opinion.

I already ran across this issue because I had deleted the Installation folder. My immediate solution was to just re-extract the installation file to make another installation folder so that I could run the Setup executable again to select “uninstall” correctly. Much easier than jumping thru hoops trying to mess with the registry and safer also.

Thanks…

when you read the new? BMS docs on install it talks about installing v4.33 blah blah blah, which is way i went yesterday, and had to take it all off again, so not so straight forward there is no wonder some of us get a little mixed up with the install!

I am running into this issue. It says to remove the registry entry HKLM\SOFTWARE\Benchmark Sims\Falcon BMS 4.34, but HKLM is not a folder on my computer. It also says, Path: F:\Falcon BMS 4.34\ even though Falcon BMS 4.34 is not a folder in my F drive. Can somebody please assist me?

Try this path instead:
HKLM\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Benchmark Sims
