Pro Throttle locking up
-
To all CH users out there, did anyone have a problem with CH Pro Throttle locking up? It sometimes stops responding completely, and only disconnecting and reconnecting it fixes it. It’s more or less random, though it seems to happen after it’s pulled all the way back (raw axis value reads 220) and then moved forward. It also seems to happen more often if the throttle is moved around and the buttons are pressed a lot in a short time.
It’s old, but that’s the first time I have any sort of problem with it. I hope this can be fixed, preferably without replacing too much of the innards… I also had the Fighterstick lock up like this once or twice, but that got resolved by setting the CM to direct mode and back to mapped. Dunno if those issues are related.

Hello,
This is probably dirt!
Try this, clean spray contact and apply to potentiometers.
Devices CH Products, do not usually give defects
Do not use, use WD 40 or similar!
Be very careful when handling the device !! -
Well, I never opened the thing (in fact, the original seal is still intact), so perhaps just doing that and dusting off the innards would suffice.
I’m also well aware how reliable this stuff is. I’ve had this set since I was 15 or so, and that’s the first problem I’ve had with it. And I bought the thing used.

Check cable integrity!

I’m pretty sure the cable isn’t damaged. The behavior of the fault doesn’t suggest a cable problem, and the cable didn’t have many opportunities to get damaged. If cleaning the inside doesn’t work, I’ll check that.

Try to clean all potentiometers!
I believe it is not difficult to have access to spare parts, if necessary! -

Seems like cleaning it fixed everything. I even managed to keep the seal intact. Thanks.

That’s cool, now enjoy the BMS !!

OK, forgot about this thread, but it turns out cleaning didn’t fix anything (the problem came back after a while), because it wasn’t the pot. It was the cable. However, it seems it was worn out in some weird way, inside the throttle, probably from stress from being flexed back and forth when the handle was being moved. I have not yet found the fault in the cable itself, but the jury-rigged replacement had cleared it.
It sure seemed like it was the pot, because the fault appeared, for most part, in the same place along the throttle range (presumably, the cable was being bent into shape that caused a momentary loss of contact). However, after a few assembly-disassembly sequences, that spot started popping up in different places along the range, likely from the faulty cable behind shifted around. This took me a long time to track down, but I got it. I’ve had it on the temporary cable for a while, the original one should not be difficult to fix, though. Just posting it there, in case anyone has the same problem.
