Deciphering weather briefing
-
Would someone be kind enough to point me in the right direction to understanding the weather info in briefings? Scanned the docs but no joy

What exactly do you need?
Think, it should be pretty self-explanatory? -
Searched the forum, and found this… pretty much cleared things up for me…

good use of the search function
It’s a METAR, or a TAF accordingly. METAR is an observation at a specific time, usually valid for a certain time lapse
A TAF is a forecast. They have more or less the same structure and are very common in aviation.
There are indeed a lot of acronyms to master to decipher them. Most of them are available everywhere on the Web.And for the records, these message in the training manuals come from WDP. You get the same weather reports in that planning app.
So you can get them for every TE, you just have to load the TE with WDP -
Thanks RD… I am just now getting back in the pit… and even before, never had a clue what all of it meant. So decided this time around to drill down deeper, and get a handle on it.
And yes… see it in WDP also -
You can try http://www.wx-now.com/weather/metardecode if you come across something weird that’s difficult to read or interpret
