What is Low Approach?
-
I’ve heard low pass used in the visual context. It’s not an IFR clearance, but a VFR one by a tower (runway owner). It described a normal (VFR) approach with a balked landing or similar activity other than runway contact. The tower can give you a VFR clearance to do a barrel roll over the runway. Let’s not restrict ourselves to only the narrow world of IFR.

Interesting, admittedly most of my experience with the subject is with military controllers on an IFR clearance.
